One built in 1903 (the same year Preston was born).

From the way its mounted, it looks like the cyclops eye turns with the wheels, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Neat! But not as uncommon as one might think...we seem to suffer of technological amnesia sometimes. Triple headlamps were available in factory and/or aftermarket form for many years prior to, and after Tucker. Ditto directional headlamps, which have made a come-back in a big way:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp#Directional_headlamps

I've seen Duesenbergs, Stutzs, etc. from the 1930s that have 1 or 2 directional spotlights in addition to the 2 regular headlights. After Tucker, it didn't really seem to make a comeback until the 1967 Citroen DS (and then only in Europe) and it's only been in the last decade that they've made a gradual comeback here in the U.S.

But Tucker may very well have been the first car to have a steerable headlight in the era where headlights were finally integrated into the body. Not to mention that, even if the idea wasn't 100% original, it was just one of the many tricks in the Tucker's arsenal of awesomeness! :)
