Very well-written I think; presented in an un-biased view.

Old Cars Article on the Convertible

In reference to the Old Cars article:
1. The Tucker did not have leaf suspension.
2. They say No 57 went into the experimental department under the direction of Robert McClelland.
I corresponded with Mr. McLelland as he properly spelled his name and he was a secretary in the Experimental Garage. What authority did he have to move a body into the Experimental garage?
In the Plan of Organization Engineering Department dated May 6, 1948 lists Mr. McClelland as Secretary assigned to the Experimental Garage. He is also listed as Factory Clerk on that report.

Over the years I either corresponded or met many former employees of Tucker Corporation. A few were:
Noble, Preston John and Mary Lee Tucker. Preston & Veras children.
Eddie Offutt, Chief Engineer
Dan Leabu, Special Assignment at Ypsilanti, Mi.
G. Hildebrand, Chief Project Engineer (Power Plant0
W.A. Rice, Ass't to Vice Pres. of Engineering. Developer of the R1/R2 & R3 transmission.
H. G. Tellock, Admisistrative Engineer
Alex Tremulis, Chief Stylist
Phil Egan, Stylist & Audrey Moore Hodges Interior Stylist.
Robert McLelland, Secretary Experimental Garage.
Amazing that none of them or anyone else I have communicated with from Tucker Corporation had any knowledge of a Tucker Convertible. I really don't think Mr. McLelland had the authority to "move" anything other than paper work in his Secreterial duties.

if you go to www.tuckerconvertible.com it is the website of the person now working on the ocvertible. in the site is some documentaion. but, it only proves the project cars existance. Doesn't shed any light on if the convertible was being built by tucker. But, how do you explain the enginerring firms references? or merly a fabrication using knows facts of tucker back in 1949?
