This is somewhat off topic, but years ago I was looking at a '57 Thunderbird with a screwy dataplate and was told you could wash titles in Alabama. I know there are always ads for services in Old Cars Weekly and Hemmings, but what do you need to start with to do this?

Yes, that was the case if you had a matching Data plate, Title, registration and licence tags. The vehicle HAD to be originally registered in the State previously to do this. It is technically called "title washing" and although legal then, it is difficult to do now because of abuse and large quantities of flood damged cars "flooding" the market, so to speak. I have a 1930 Model A Tudor Sedan that I bought from a farmer's field, it was just a body, no frame, floor, roof, or much of the wood left and no title. The only ID numbers were stamped on the floor X-member (5 digits). Once it was time to register it, I bought an original Title from the swap meet. I was issued a "Classic" title with VIN numbers issued by the State (OR). I had to stamp the numbers on the X-member below the originals. The VIN issued was a combination of these originals and the new ones from the DMV. The car then had to be taken to DMV and verified by them that I did what instructed to do. After verification, I was issued a "Reconstructed Classic" title to go along with my restored vintage 1930 Oregon plates. Although it is now "branded", I will have no problem selling it because there is no funny business, thats just how it is done, Legally, as I am not trying to pass it off a secret project "Rat Rod" started in Henry Ford's barn!
If you didn't get dirty, then nothing was accomplished!

Yeah...check out this 'Bama-based service: http://www.broadwaytitle.com/how.htm

It says under "Your Responsibility" that you have to "make sure" the car is not stolen, salvage, etc. I wonder how stricly you have to prove your due diligence.

Just curious...At what point did someone realize they needed a different front fender if they wanted to add fuel...

It's not for access to the gas tank...it's a trap door to hide Easter eggs...

I have the photos from the convertible page where they were adding the fuel door and then the pictures were removed from their site. Also jes there are many easter eggs hiden in there behind the fuel door. Green, Blue, Red, and many more. Some eggs 27, 18, 55, and who knows what other kind of easter eggs.
I wonder where is John who started this thing about easter eggs. It is almost easter again and we need to find all the eggs by easter :D
Also at first it had a section of 1949/52 Chevy/Buick? rear fender wheel openings to hold the skirts but then it was changed so it do not use rear fender skirts. Many other things changed as time go.

I'm just curious as to why it has a fuel door on both the front and rear fender? You think they've got two tanks?

looks like they could not make up their mind on where to put it. The front would be correct for 27 or 57??

Seems like if you were just restoring a car it would already have a fuel door. Of course if you were building one from scratch you'd need to ad one

Actually they are still there. They are under Aug. 28, 2009.

These are linked directly to their page.

While we are on the subject of fuel doors, does anyone know if the "convertible" even runs?
I haven't seen any pictures or videos of the car actually being driven. Anyone know?

Check out this video I found on Youtube.

You see it move(A Little Bit) under its own power about 6 mins into the video.

Hey Justin,

This is what a real one off prototype looks like and the type of documentation it would have!

I see it even stopped by the Gilmore Museum.
