Maybe the hot air finally got out of the convertible story and caused the tent to collapse. I wonder if the convertible
gets destroyed does Cole have it insured for 5 million?

Thought the post by mframe4646 was interesting. If it's true, the information about the doors tells a lot "the doors
look to have been wire welded when stretched out- He had some pretty advanced technology to have wire welded them up"
Maybe it is because the doors weren't done until years later when they had the technology and like everything else about
the car they were never convertible doors while at the Tucker plant.

I am still floored about the comment about the doors being stamped. That was never a comment ever made that I saw untill this auction push. I have some good pics to show that is not the case. The more I hear the more I am completely upset at what they are trying to pull. Call it as it is- An old mans(al reinhart) wet dream. They could probably get just as much money out of the thing saying as so. My files are to large to upload the pics- if interested I would gladly talk more and send pics in private conversation or messages. Mframe4646@aol.com.

Also if any one is interested we do have the orginal rendering that Benchmark used for all their advertisement and the first Old Cars weekly article. The two-tone pic in waltz blue and silver. Another funny story- that color, waltz blue, was picked off of a model Tucker car that Justin had. Pete, my business partner, did all that artwork. We have debated about putting it on ebay- with a whole slew of pics. But we did not want to come off as a new shop trying to make stuff up and sound like whiners. But the picture has been matted and a few tucker memrobilia things added to it. I do have pics of that artwork, and artisit next to the car to prove its real. Maybe I could have Al Prueit validate that also, ha ha.

Are we to assume that the convertible is all "wet" now? Did the "Wizard" take it to OZ?

I hate to jump into the pit but I am here in AZ. I went to see the Tucker convertible yesterday morning. I was under-impressed and although I am a buyer on any Tucker sedan on the market at fair side of high market value I can't see this car pulling big numbers... I also have heard that the convertible was damaged in the storm. Early news was a piece of a/v equipment fell on the top... But thats from a solid third party not first hand! I will try and post pics...

Just a thought, the interior looked to be a vinyl which detracts from the velour look of the original Tucker material... And I also agree with previous posters... Call it a resto-mod using all period parts and it could fetch high into the 8-900's....

AZ news story indicates that the 'vert suffered damage: http://www.azcentral.com/business/artic ... ws-CR.html

The interesting thing will be if Cole files an insurance claim on it.

ebres63081, was the Tucker in the main tent or the display tents? I would think the Tucker would be in the main auction tent - that's where they always tend to put their headline cars. If that were the case, it would not be damaged.

If the convertible got hit, will it now have to be sold with a salvage title? It would no longer
be the "new" car with only 2/10s of a mile that Cole claimed but would be a "documented"
storm damaged vehicle.

At last, some authentic documentation.

In other news, I read a fire broke out at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Thursday. Supposedly, both the show & the fire were small potatoes -- no one was hurt, just mostly annoyed about a sketchy refund procedure. But it seems like Armageddon (car-megeddon?) this week in the auto show world.

The Autoshow Fire was not a big deal. The worst that happened was some Audi's got dirty and some people waited outside for 2.5 hours to get back in.

A piece on the auction with a photo of the car and a quote from Shirley Tucker: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/ ... r0123.html

Bidders may be wary. Critics, including Tucker's daughter-in-law, Shirley Tucker, 82, of Scottsdale, are calling the open-top Tucker a fake.

"There never was a convertible," she said. "All the cars were the same, just different colors."
