I think they are going to have a difficult time getting one of the legit auction houses (Barrett-Jackson, RM, Russo & Steele, Mecum) to take the car on with the cloud of uncertainty that surrounds it.
I could not agree with you more, but then again, Barry White and Boyd Coddington both have sold quite a few of their "bondo-clone-resto-mobiles" for pretty decent prices considering that they started out as junkyard finds! If the convertible does make it across the auction block, I doubt it will see "Market Value" like a genuine Tucker would. Cars sold with a salvage Title (which I'm guessing this car has, considering the nature of the "57" body number) rarely command premium prices. I know because I have had come to me to restore a car with a salvage title. After explaining that they will never get even near what the car is worth, let alone a "restored" price. I usually see them listed in the classifieds for sale a few days later saying "I just don't have the money to mess with it anymore or Wife says it must go". I know this is not the case here, but my take on this Con-vertible story. The car does look nice though, but after seeing pictures of how it was built, you couldn't give it to me!! Just my opinion!
