Jay- Great job. The engineering documents in Dave Cammack's collection clearly show that company development activities were sadly coming to an end long before the January, 1949 closure. The 49 cars were completed as you described- by near heroic employees determined to do so, one car at a time. By October 1948 Preston Tucker was desperately trying to hold on to control of the company. It is a great story that the company could have then been secretly working on a convertible car. For reasons you so nicely stated, this story is that of urban legend, not reality. Thanks, also, for making it clear that many of us look forward to seeing the convertible as a tribute car. Incidentally, that the four-door design works so well as a convertible is a further tribute to its designers.

Thank you Jay !

You nailed it in your response. As I said earlier, I believed there were many things we could and should say right now. I think
you got almost every one of them. There is so many things that show this story is a fraud that there is no reason to wait until
we can prove where every nut and bolt came from. The phrase "reasonable doubt" comes to mind. So far they have not brought
forward one single item that proves their story. Only "affidavits" that some guy somewhere saw something and letters from
dead accountants asking how is your project coming. I was shocked that the NY Times even ran the story without checking it
further. At least now if anyone feels they can't respond to questions about this cars history, they can direct them to your letter
here which pretty much covers what we have said for several months.

I posted so many photos that show what this car is but NY Times were too lazy to see and read.

Tucker,
The reporters do not care, they thrive on controversy,
We did not give them or anyone else,"anything", you cared and sent material apparently, this was in good faith and quite Noble of you Ricardo.
Your own post above though, clearly states they had the material & didn't care.
Maybe the NY Times "attorney's" , they have a staff of them, without having "all facts", decided what you sent them was heresay and enuendo, sad but probably true Ricardo.

Hold onto it all Ricardo, as we are doing, as we are afraid that the controversy and saga will continue, titt for tat !

Jay, I do commend you on your good counter points to their story, well wrote.

Same here, but we can also lock topics if they should get out of hand or edit out dirty words out of posts.

Me three, plus I start school in a week, so I really don't have time to much of anything at the moment.

I think it's been nicely consolidated into the letter that Jay wrote. Otherwise, I've not heard anyone seeking information on the convertible for quite some time.

In other words, I'm going to leave well enough alone.

Hi TuckerCar, do you also only have the power to remove porn and bristols and all that nasty stuff like Phantomring, Randy Earl and Tuckerfan1053? That looks like there is tons of nasty stuff coming in if all this helpers are needed to keep the site clean :)

They have moderator rights which allows them to delete, move or edit all posts. As for postings that need to be deleted, most people don't ever see them but when they do, if they're not removed in a nanosecond, I always hear about it from a dozen people.

Bottom line, we will post an official statement on the convertible on the club's main site, but as Benchmark has still not produced any legitimate provenance on the convertible, I do not have the interest nor time in reorganizing the 45 pages of posts.
