Richard- You owe no apology. You have done more for TACA and Tucker history than any one other person. You have been the wind beneath the wings of TACA. You have been my mentor for years- always much appreciated. Keep engaged as you can. Thanks for what you have done and continue to do.

Richard,

As I said earlier, I appreciate everytime you answer one of my questions. You always have facts that the rest of
us can only speculate on. Over the past few months I've found that a lot of information online about verious Tuckers
is simply not true and when something doesn't seem right you always have the answer.

When I Googled "Preston Tucker's personal car" I got 238 website hits that all say #1030 was his personal car. The
Petersen also has a big sign saying the same thing in front of the car. That never made any sense to me because I
could never find any evidence that he owned it. It's great to have someone like you that can verify that #1030 was
never owned by Mr. Tucker and even though Lucille Holmes had the car for only a few months it couldn't be considered
as being Preston's car, (Of course we know he did own #1029 and #1031). I'm a little surprised the Petersen hasn't
corrected their mis-information after all these years.

Anyway thanks again for all you do !

Getting back to #1030. Does anyone know when Nobuyo Sawayama bought #1030? I understand it was after 1988
and that he paid $850,000 for it? Sawayama also owned #1045. Was this during the same time period and I've
read he paid around $500,000 for #1045. Just curious about these transactions and how the cars were bought
back if they both actually went to Japan?

Thanks for the help !

OK, now you have my attention when you say that an owner of the Petersen Museum Tucker was a same past owner of Tucker #1045 (now owned by the O'Quinn collection). This is amazing to me. Now I have to know if #1045 actually was in Japan. Someone who knows please answer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Charles

It's amazing what you can learn by reading all 5,500 + posts on this board

Of course then you have to sort out which ones are true and which ones aren't :?:

I keep reading about The Petersen Museum owning 2 Tuckers. Today I ran across this. Ken Gross said when he
was director of the Petersen Automotive Museum, Bob Petersen purchased two Tuckers, and they usually had
one on display.

So which other Tucker did the Petersen own and when?

I know that In 2002, Barrett-Jackson held the Petersen Museum Classic Car Auction on Saturday, June 15.
Lot # 267 was Tucker #1007. It sold for $341,000.00 including the buyer’s premium. Had #1007 been owned
by Petersen or was it just there for the auction?

#1007 was indeed owned by the Petersen Museum at that time. It sold to it's current home, the LeMay Museum at the 2002 auction.

Let's see if I finally have #1030 figured out.

#1030 was completed between 8/28/48 and 9/15/48

It was one of Seven Tuckers tested at the Indianapolis Speedway between September 16th and October 5th, 1948
according to engineering report #101 by A. Smaardyk dated October 21st, 1948

#1030 was then sold to Mrs. Lucille Holmes, (Mother of Preston T. Tucker, Sr.) for $2,000.00 but returned to the factory
after the SEC began their investgation and was back in the executive garage after less than 19 weeks on 3/3/49.

The car was part of the Bankruptcy Auction and was sold as part of the Tucker Corporation assets.

Ray Wiysel bought the car at the auction

Wiysel sold it to James B. Kozial

Maynard A. Buchanan then bought the car

Stan Gilliland got it from Maynard

It was then sold to Jerry Campagna

Campagna sold it the the Behring Museum

Behring had it restored by Phaetons & Fins and sold it to Nobuyo Sawayama

Nobuyo Sawayama took the car to Japan in December of 1989.

It was later purchased and returned to the US by the Petersen Museum where it now sits.

Did I miss anything and is it in the correct order????

Maybe The Petersen Museum can explain where in all the above it was Preston Tucker's personal car.

Some people drink, Some people smoke, Tiger Woods..well we know what he does.

I'm more of a Tuckerholic. There is probably a treatment center for Tuckerholics somewhere. I just refuse
to check into it until I've found #1042 and the big back window body.

And after The Petersen changes the sign on their car

It seems the Preston Tucker's personal car story goes all the way back to Ray Wiysel.
