Consider for a moment the legacy of one man’s dream. For example, the impact Preston Tucker’s passion to build “The First Completely New Car in 50 Years” had on the automotive world. On those who poured themselves out to make that dream a reality. On those drawn into the legacy of that dream, who established an organization to “Keep The Legend Alive.”
As the current members of TACA, we have the privilege to reap the benefits of that dream and legacy, as well the responsibility to share our own passion for this remarkable car and the history of those who dedicated themselves to it.
Of course, one of the ways we both honor and perpetuate the dream and the legacy is through club activities, such as our monthly publication, Tucker Topics and our annual convention. As you’ve read in recent Topics issues, the breath–taking Reno / Lake Tahoe, NV area will be our backdrop June 14–17, 2009 as we come together to celebrate THE Dream, THE Legacy and TACA’s 35th Convention.
You won’t want to miss the crown jewel of the National Automotive Museum, Tucker #1032, on display amongst the world-famous Harrah Collection of over 200 stunning autos set in period correct surroundings. Here we’ll also see the Thomas Flyer that won the 1908 New York–to–Paris race, the one-of-a-kind 1938 Phantom Corsair and Lana Turner’s 1941 Chrysler Newport designed by Ralph Roberts, who was assisted by future Tucker designer Alex Tremulis.
“Legacy of A Dream”
And where else can you tour of the stunning beauty that can only be found in Lake Tahoe’s Emerald Bay aboard a two–hour narrated luncheon cruise of aboard the M.S. Dixie, a genuine Mississippi River paddle wheeler?
We’ll step back in time at Virginia City, a boomtown of the late 1800s created by the gold and silver strikes, and one-time home of Mark Twain. Our group will board the Silver Line Express, an authentic steam train, and travel through tunnel #4 to Gold Hill. Here we’ll experience an amazing 100 miles of vistas reminiscent of “The Wild, Wild West” and “Bonanza” TV series.
Our tour to Carson City takes us to the former US Mint, where nearly $50 million in gold and silver from the famed Comstock Lode was coined. Today, the Mint serves as the State’s museum and will give us a glimpse into the mines and ghost towns of the “Boom or Bust” era.
The all–new Convention Package for 2009 is an incredible value—with an “early bird” discount to boot—and the Silver Legacy Hotel, Reno’s premier destination resort, is offering us the most affordable hotel rate TACA has enjoyed in 16 years! They also offer FREE airport shuttles, FREE Parking, rental car discounts, and a FREE “around the town” shuttle.
You’ve been impacted by the Dream of the Tucker ’48—you won’t want to miss out on sharing the Legacy during TACA’s 35th Convention!
