Indian Dealer's Tucker

Postby hornet200 » Mon Feb 19, 2007 1:12 pm

Back in the 50's an Indian Motorcycle dealer in New Jersey owned a Tucker. I think it was green. I was told that he sold it and it went to Maryland. Anyone know anything about it?

New Jersey Tucker owner

Postby Larry Clark » Tue Feb 20, 2007 9:42 pm

Tucker #1007 was sold at the Tucker bankruptcy auction to a Barry Graver, doing business as Kilroy Motors, for $2,200. 1007 was then still green (#300). I do not know how long Graver owned this car or whether he might be the Indian dealer you have heard about. I know of no other green Tucker in New Jersey in the 1950s.

Indian dealers Tucker

Postby hornet200 » Tue Feb 20, 2007 10:55 pm

I don't think that would be it. The one I saw at the dealers (about 1952) was green someone else in NJ remembered, I don't recall the color. The dealer told me he paid $10,000 for a dealership and that is how he got the car. It never ran. He told me, "It never should have left the factory." He got the car, the dealership rights and a set of luggage for his 10K.

Tucker in NJ

Sure hope I don't blow this one as I did on identifying the car in Tucker
Topics. Mr. Mann was correct in identifying that Tucker as 1008.
Now for the NJ Tucker. It was Tucker Serial No. 1001 purchased from Nick Woytowich 78 Rutgers Ave. Bellville, NJ by David Cammack in 1972. Previous owners were Paul Sheppard 160 Ashland Ave. Bloomfield, NJ and L. Disbrow, Sr. Newfoundland, NJ. As I recall Mr. Woytowich did have a motorcycle shop.

Tucker 1001 was green when Dave purchased it in 1972. I have photos of it being loaded onto his trailer.

Mr. Jones
May we see the pics of the green Tucker being loaded on the trailer. Mr Cammack has nothing but good things to say about you seems he considers you a good close friend.

Chain of ownership?

Postby hornet200 » Thu Feb 22, 2007 1:37 pm

It sounds like the chain of ownership was Sheppard, Disbrow, Woytowich, Cammack?
That would make the dealer's story (to me) not true? Who was first owner by buying a dealership?

The Indian Dealer

Postby hornet200 » Sat Feb 24, 2007 4:47 pm

I think I have all the straight story... Will revise my article to bring out the FACTS of #1001. Very interesting what I dug up today. Will post the story in 2 weeks or so at my WEB site and will tell all how to find it at that time. Tom in New Mexico (former customer of the Indian Dealer in NJ.)
