Tuckers in my dad's showroom

Postby John D » Sun Mar 13, 2005 10:29 pm

To all Just writing to let folks know my dad had a Tucker dealership in Milford, Connecticut and I can remember we had two on display for a few days. It was an automobile way ahead of its time and its too bad the other car builders forced him out of business. My father did get a full set of luggage for his investment. The cars as I remember had a deep well for feet. I remember crawling inside the well to show people the room that was available. I do not have any pamplets or anything left over from that time my father was associated with Tucker. My father's garage was called "Milford Garage" and when the Tuckers were on display many people came to look at the car of the future. I hope whoever owns a Tucker today appreciates what he or she has. It was really a great car.
By he way my email address is "jphid107@cox.net"

John,

Thanks for your post. I just checked the Dealership database we started here at the Tucker Historical Collection and Library and find your father's dealership listed.

Milford Garage
687 Bridgeport Ave.
(aka Boston Post Road)
Milford, CT

Paul O. Duhaime, owner

This was a Sunoco gas station that also held a dealer for the Playboy car.

You may want to look for copies of the local or regional newspaper from the 3rd weekend in June 1948 as they typically had a large ad featuring local dealerships. You may also be able to locate news stories about the dealership showing that your father hosted.

Best Regards,
Jay
