The name Tucker is Scottish. The Tucker Klan was one of the more prestige of Scotland. I know this because my family name is a very prestige name in Scotland. I do plan, time allowing, to do a little more research on this name. I will get back to you as soon as I do, however I have a lot on my plate right now and can’t guarantee a time on this. Jen

Stitch: Your grandfather, Frank Tucker, was a great TACA member and wonderful friend to many, myself included. I believe Frank was actually a nephew, not grandson. Frank's father and Preston Tucker were brothers. His father was quite involved in work with Preston prior to Preston's attempt to produce a car, especially with the combat car turret. I hope you continue to visit the TACA web page- it is great to have one of Frank's family members with us.

We are Tuckers in California and I have always wondered if we are related to Preston. The similarities in the inventions of Preston and my grandfather and grand uncles are just to similar to be coincidence.. My Grandfather, Jess Tucker, made many improvements on the automobile and, like Preston, was ripped off by the Big three. I have Jess's orginal patents for the automatic transmission and the modern clutch, for which he never recieved recognition. He also invented the process, but got credit for, of manufacturing multiple engine rings at once, instead of just one at a time. My older cousins used to play with the prototypes - walking them down stairs...yes, you guessed it...from that was born the Slinky. In 1947, he constructed the smallest deisel engine in the world - that fit in a suitcase. It's progeny is still used to do mine dredging in rivers. My uncles were the inventors of an inproved 1920 Model-T and the Tucker Snocat. No one in our living family knows of any connection to Preston. Prior to coming to California in 1842, our branch of the Tuckers hailed from either Missouri or Arkinsas. Does anyone out there know if there might be a connection to our two clans?
