meet previous owner of car 1031 and 1050

Postby busmechanic » Sun Jan 14, 2007 9:11 pm

I meet an ederly gentleman tonight who owned a Chevrolet dealership for 40 plus years in IL . He claimed to own 2 Tuckers, car number 1031 and 1050.

Very interresting man of age 82. Nothing beats the knowledge and expertease of a senior car buff. I never knew of a Tucker Car being produced and hence when I came home I found this website and I find it very interresting piece of history.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this piece of history.

I also learned tonight that he has an orginal V-8 Chevrolet motor from I think year 1917. Dont quote me on the year. I was told it had what they called open push rods. Way before my time :) Of course most will recall the first V8 of being 1955

Interesting person you met. Love to learn more.

I enjoyed reading your posted message. In trying to track owners of Tucker cars I learned long ago not to doubt the possibility of car ownership when someone claims it. However, this is the first time that I have heard the possibility of the same person having once owned both 1031 and 1050. I would love to learn more about the person you have met, including when he owned the cars and whether ever at the same time (and the identity of your former owner if possible to disclose). If you would prefer to respond by private email my email address follows: clarkl@uncw.edu. Thanks for the post. Larry

The Tucker has the same problem as my automotive specialty, Duesenbergs; certain cars are attributed to famous people that never owned them in the first place.

I've seen several cars attributed to Mr. Tucker's own garage, including the Nethercutt Collection's 1040. Thanks to the experts for clearing up the matter.

I work in Classics/antiques and hear those stories too.

I have been told that through friends in the hobby that I have an open invite to view the Nethercutt collection....when I have time....too busy building the cars to look at any.
