Harry A. Miller Selected to A.H.F.

Postby Larry Clark » Sat Jul 26, 2003 11:08 pm

The Automotive Hall of Fame has announced that Harry A. Miller will be inducted at their October ceremony. Miller was a guru of Indy racing during the late 1920's and 1930's. He will join his one-time business partner and friend, Preston Tucker, as a member.
Tucker and Miller formed Miller and Tucker, Inc. in early 1935 to build racing cars. Tucker secured a contract from Ford to build 10 race cars for the 1935 Indy 500. The resulting Miller-Ford race cars were the first front-wheel-drive, all independent suspension Indy racers. Unfortunately, no car completed the race (a design flaw associated with exhaust heat). You can see one of the race cars at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn (adjacent to the A.H.F.).
