National Tucker Stockholders Ass'n

Postby Ohio AMX » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:38 am

I purchased what appeared to be a 1948 dealer issued pamphlet, complete with photos, specs and excerpts of a Mechanix Illustrated road test by Tom McCahill. But then the back page turns out to be an advertisement for the National Tucker Stockholders Ass'n, Inc. The top of the page is reprinted from three different April 10-13, 1950 Chicago newspapers, and the bottom mentions the case being postponed until September 22, 1950, placing this pamphlet between these dates. Pretty interesting reading but whatever became of the NTSA?

Maybe it became the National Transportation Safety Administration? The letters are the same, anyway.

Larry Clark would be the expert on this question but the Bankruptcy Court ordered the liquidation of the company assets in September 1950 rather than accept the Stockholders Associations plan to reorganize. That sale took place on October 18-20, 1950. The government awarded the plant to Ford effective November 1, 1950. Once the assets and the plant were gone any chance for the Stockholders Associations plans to build a car would have been over.
