Tucker Spotted in Junkyard

We've all heard the stories about people seeing Tuckers in junkyards. If there were as many Tuckers as there are Tuckers in junkyard stories we'd all own one. For several months I've got e-mails from reputable car guys that swear they saw a Tucker in a junkyard. The thing is they all point to the same junkyard. Whiteys Auto Parts, at 13517 NE Hwy 65 in Blaine MN. Funny thing about Whiteys is I used to live in Minnesota and back around 1971 and I went to Whiteys with a friend of mine. I could swear I saw a Tucker there as well but over the years I began to "know better" that I must have saw something else with three headlights and a rear bumper that said Tucker. I've never mentioned it here because I knew I'd get laughed off the message board.

I had sort of forgot about seeing that junkyard Tucker until I started getting these e-mails from car guys about this Tucker at Whiteys. Of course they had no idea I even knew where Whiteys was. Finally this week I was doing some research on the Minnesota cars when I realized the former owner of #1011 was David Lares, but his friends all called him Whitey.

The big light finally came on over my head and I started digging. WELL, it turns out that I can document that Whiteys Auto Parts, at 13517 NE Hwy 65 in Blaine MN. was owned by David "Whitey" Lares and the property was still recently owned by the Lares Corporation which makes power steering gears and pumps for classic cars. I believe the Lares family even lived in the house on the property.

I know this is hard for most of you to believe but it turns out there really was a Tucker in a junkyard and it was #1011. So next time someone tells you they saw a Tucker in a junkyard.....well I probably still wouldn't believe them
