Google has a pretty nifty feature now, called "News Archive Search." I've been using it to look through (when I can find free editions) old newspapers to see what I can turn up on Tucker (I can't find a single article on Tucker before the late 1930s, for some reason). I've started looking up some of the other figures as well, and I found a short piece on Abe Karatz being arrested for bank fraud. A few pages later, there's even a photo of him.
Based on skimming a few articles, it seems that there was a death, which led to the revelation that the financial product Karatz was connected with was a Ponzi scheme.
