Missing Motor Numbers

Postby Tucker Fan 48 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 2:34 am

Does anyone know what motors are (or were) in the following cars?

1001
1002
1003
1004
1006
1008
1009
1010
1013
1015
1016
1017
1018
1019
1020
1027
1029
1031
1035
1042
1050
1051

I hope to account for and confirm the motor numbers in all the cars, which would leave 45+ spare motors out there. If you happen to own one of the above cars and don't know which motor you have, the number is stamped into the block where the distributor goes into the engine.

If anyone knows the numbers of some of the spare motors that are in various collections I'm trying to account for all of them. I've heard that there may be as many as 150 total motors or as little as 95. Presently I've noted motor numbers up to #33591 which is in #1021. Let me know if you can help track these down.

These motor numbers are missing or unaccounted for. Some are in the cars posted above. Others are in collections. If you know the location of any of them please post it here and we'll try to account for all the motors. :D

Here is a question for Richard,

You noted back on Wed Jul 27, 2005 at 3:04 am, that Ray Burton of Falls Church, WV. had a spare Tucker Franklin engine #33553.
#33553 was listed as the original engine from #1046. Do you know if Burton purchased it from Nick Jenin? If not, any ideas how it
got from #1046 to Burton and where is it now?

Also on the subject of Ray Burton, did he sell #1004 to the Toyota museum in Nagakutecho, Japan or were there other owners
between Burton and Toyota?

Ray Burton did purchase the engine taken from 1046 from Nick Jenin. Serial Number 33553. When he passed away his Tucker 1004 was sold to Happy Auto Access. in Las Vegas,NV They are the ones who probably sold it to the Toyoto Museum in Japan. I have no idea where that engine may be today.

Thanks Richard,

I figured you would know the answer. Do you remember when the car was sold from Ray Burton's estate to Happy's? I tryed to find information on Ray
but didn't have much success. I did find Happy's Custom Auto Accessories Of Las Vegas, 4436 Cooktown Ct, North Las Vegas, NV. 89032-0109. It is owned
by James H. Kruger. Does that sound like the place you were referring to? It looks like Kruger still lives there and the house has a huge shop in the back
yard (gotta love Google Earth) so he may work out of his house. Any idea of when the Toyota Museum bought the car from Happy's?
