Tuckers now officially million-dollar cars

RM has posted the results of this year's Monterey auction. Looks like #1038 sold for $1,017,500 with all commissions and fees.

That's a little over double the lowest estimate.

The auction was amazing!!! The bidding was fierce on #1038... It met reserve at $500,000.00, and just kept going up and up from there! The hammer fell at $925,000.00 + fees for a total of $1,017,500.00! A new record for sure. It was incredible to watch this take place in a matter of less than 2 minutes!

Not a bad little profit. Didn't he buy it for somewhere in the range of $565K not two years ago?

Right... $577,500.00 including fees. Even with seller's fees this time, it's still a cool quarter million profit!

And to think I just saw that beauty a few weeks ago at Preston's home! I didn't know at the time that I was admiring a "million-dollar baby"!
Hope the brakes are working better now than then!

I was one of the bidders in Monterey on #1038. I think its important to note that 1038 was a 3000 mile original car with hundreds of thousands in restoration. I did a comprehensive inspection in-under and outside of 1038. That was truly a 100 point concourse car which would take 200-300k to replicate. Even then, is there another 3000 mile Tucker to start with? Every bolt, every stitch and every inch of 1038 was gorgeous.

My bet is I was bidding against EURO money. Hopefully there is some kind Tucker owner looking to secure his Tucker's future as a USA based museum/show car that will help me realize my dream of owning a car!

All the best,

That's a good point. The US is becoming a LCC lately. It'll be interesting to see where the car ends up.
