Sequence Allotment of cars

Postby memlane » Mon Nov 26, 2007 5:25 pm

I have a letter called "Sequence Allotment" which shows that a fellow would be obtaining #8 from Gary Tucker Motor Sales and I would like to find more information about this. He didn't receive the car although he remembered receiving something (perhaps a radio) in advance. Is there a way to know more about this car? Color, where it actually was delivered, why he didn't receive it, etc. Sorry but I'm new to all of this and am just looking for some documentation on this letter. It also included a poster which included a hand written note to someone's mother which said basically "Mother, you'll soon be riding in our new Tucker". Of course that never happened as they didn't receive the car. Thanks for any help.

There was an old posting I had hoped to find that I made some time ago explaining these things.

In short, the Sequence Allotment forms merely promised a car in the order it arrived at a specific dealer. So your friend wasn't actually going to receive Tucker #1008, but the 8th Tucker that Gary Tucker Motor Sales would have received.

Since the cars were never allotted to dealers, the car effectively doesn't exist so there's no way to track it.

The radio was part of the dealer accessories program in which Tucker buyers were persuaded to order radios, heaters, seatcovers and luggage in advance of the car's arrival. Of course these items were received but the cars weren't.

By buying the accessories in advance someone who had ordered a Tucker car, could secure a place in line for the eventual delivery of his or her car.

Evidently your letter confirms that a certain person is promised car #8 from Gary Tucker Motor sales, in return for buying accessories in advance.

Accessories included seat covers, radios, etc.

The cars were never delivered. The factory was shut down by the government with a handful of cars, partly completed, inside. Eventually 52 cars were finished and sold.
