Large hand painted Tucker sign

Postby jryan2010 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 10:25 am

This sign was passed down to me. It is hand painted and very large. Does anyone know more about this?

All I know it is a great conversation piece in my living room!

Here is a link to a picture of it!

Cool piece. Are you really selling it or did you put it in the Buy and Sell Forum by mistake?

Well, I actually wanted more information on it. I don't know what it is worth. I cant find anything like it on the internet. So if someone offered the right price I would be willing to sell it.

It does not appear to have been done by the Tucker Corporation. They would not have referred to the car as having a "Rear-End Motor," let alone mention the H-Bomb. Could have been done by a dealer or maybe even Nick Jenin for his road show.

With something like this, there is no established value. Hard to say what it's worth.

Very cool. I agree that the sign was likely created by a dealer or even Nick Jenin. You mention that the sign was passed down to you. Do you happen to know from whom or how the person before you came to own the sign? The more details you might have for past owners the better chance we have of possibly helping you to solve your mystery.

The hydrogen bomb not being tested until the early 1950s, its a bit implausible that they would have mentioned it in the original advertising campaign.

The sign was given to me by my dad who got it from his dad, Emmett Ryan from Ontario California. My Grandad owned the second Tucker ever made and sold it in the early 2000s, I think, to a museum in Canada. My Grandad got the car and the sign from a man named Bill Hamlin from Ontario, California. Bill I believe was one of the founding members of the Tucker club. My dad said Bill got the sign from a showroom for the Tuckers.

That is about all I know.
