What car did you see?

Can you give me any more details on the car you saw in a museum. Do you know that color of the car or the name / owner of the museum? Is the Shelby Twp you mention in East Michigan or West Michigan?
I remember that car !!! I saw it about 1977. As I recall, it was a cream color. I was blown away because it was the first Tucker I had ever seen. There were only a handfull of cars in the museum. It was only open when the owner felt like opening it, usually on Sunday if at all.I believe the museum was called 'JOSEPH D. TEMROWSKI and had AUTOMOBILANIA somewhere in the title. I remember that either the engine or trans (I'm pretty sure it was the trans) had been replaced with one from a Citroen. I'll go bonkers if I don't find out what happened to that car !
Temroski owned Tucker #1047

Postby Larry Clark » Mon Aug 11, 2003 9:00 am

Phillip: Your additional information has helped me be able to provide everyone the answer: the car was Tucker #1047. Several years back I was trying to gain additional documentation on the Tucker cars. Richard Jones and Stan Gilliland provided wonderful help. Unfortunately, I lost my electronic data base that I was developing when I moved in 2000. However, before that, Stan wrote in pencil on a draft that I had shared with him that the car was off white when owned by Mrs. F. Temroski, your Temroski. This car later was purchased by Dick Teague, of AMC design fame, and then sold to its present owner, the Gilmore Museum (home of the Tucker HCL where Jay Follis works). The car was originally Waltz Blue. It was sold at the bankruptcy auction in October, 1950.
I would very much like to learn more about the collection / museum you visited in the late 70's. Do yuou have any photos from that time?

Tucker #1047 was indeed painted white when the Gilmore Car Museum purchased the car in 1983. Under the hood had never been repainted white and the car still has "#47" written in grease pencil on the original waltz blue.

The car currently has 35 miles on it. According to museum records when the car was purchased the Cord transmission had gears damaged and a second, home-made wiring harness was added. The car had somewhere between 8 and 12 miles on it prior to being restored.

Our records also show that Richard Teague never owned the car but is on the bill of sale as "Representative for the owner".

Tucker #1047 can also be seen on the top banner of the TACA website in front of the Museum's recreated service station.

I Look forward to hearing from you.
