Tucker Dealer List

Postby bob.alexander » Sun Dec 24, 2006 10:02 pm

I have just purchased a Tucker dealer brochure and it has an inkstamp on it from Osborne Electric, La Junta, Co. Is there anyone who has a list of Tucker Dealers? I would love to know if this is original or not. I am brand new to the site, and I look forward to learning from all of you. My wife and I saw a Tucker at Gast Museum in Strasburg, PA in 1993, but it has been sold since then. In my opinion, they were the most beautiful machine ever built.

Talk to Jay

Bob: Welcome! We invite you to become a TACA member if you haven't already joined. In response to your question, I don't know about the dealership you mentioned, but the current president of TACA, Jay Follis, is working on a Tucker dealers list, and has urged members to supply him with any information that they might have. He is also in charge of the Tucker Historical Collection and Library (in Hickory Corners, MI), our official repository of all things Tucker. Jay might have some info regarding your question. He'll probably respond to this post shortly. In the meantime, you could use the search function of this bulletin board to find previous posts with similar issues.
Merry Christmas!

Tucker Dealer List

Postby TuckerHCL » Wed Jan 03, 2007 8:25 am

Bob,

Welcome aboard! I am sorry to say that currently we do not have any information for a dealership in La Junta, CO. That isn't to say that the information on your brochure wrong. Just that we have yet to locate information on this dealership. Of the estimated 1,800 - 2,000 Tucker dealerships we have been able to locate and confirm 650+. This list has been created, with the help of numerous people, by searching Corporate documents, letters, newspaper advertisments, court papers and etc. as no complete list of dealers has ever been discovered.

If you could provide the complete infromation shown on the imprint or even a scan of the brochure showing the imprint it would be greatly appreciated. On the email below simply cut <remove> from the address.

Best Regards

Jay,

Could you tell me if you have any information on Tucker dealers in New Jersey? When I briefly sold new Buick-Pontiac-GMC's in 1999, I had a customer that discussed with me his memories of visiting the local Trenton <NJ> Tucker dealership. He even thought that he may have had an old ashtray or other piece of Tucker dealership memorabilia in his attic (unfortunately, I left mid-2000 and never saw this customer again). I've always wondered where in Trenton, or any other part of NJ, a Tucker dealership was. Thanks!
Roger

My Dad had one. 259 Nassau St, Princeton. He was a Packard Dealer at the time. I have some photos of a Tucker in front of his dealership. I've never been able to find out which #.

dealer in Quincy Illinois

Postby jcdeem » Sat Jan 12, 2008 5:45 pm

new guy here sorta, here in Quincy Illinois, there was a Tucker dealership, the folks that had the dealership ended up using the building to sell appliances, since there were not able to sell the cars that they highly believed in, they decided to sell appliances, they had the sign already on the building for Tucker, they named the store Tucker Appliance Store, also during the trials of Preston Tucker, these folks had a baby boy, they named him Tucker.

even after Preston Tucker was wrongfully shut down, these folks that had the dealership still believed in Preston Tucker, they had nothing but wonderful things to say about Preston when they met him in St Louis, they even got to ride and drive the Tucker that Preston took around the country to promote it.

I will talk with these fine people, and I will see if they have any pictures of the dealership with the name Tucker on it, if so I will see if I can get a copy of it, the corner where the building still stands today is known as Tucker Corner.

I believe that there was one in the Butler, NJ area (DeLorenzo Motors) and this one (Tucker Brothers) somewhere in NJ:

owned by the Ida family (still in the Tucker business!)

jcdeem, any additional information or photos you can gather from the dealer (or even the current day site) would be greatly appreciated. The Tucker HCL does keep a database of would-be dealers and although the one in Quincy is already in there, we'd certainly like to add any info we can.

Thanks!

BTW, there was one in Baraboo, WI on the corner of Parkway and South Blvd that was just blocks from a summer house we had when I was a kid. Last I saw it was a Culligan Water store, but the original building still stands.
