What's the story on 1010, 1027, 1050 and 1042?

Postby Ace Barker » Tue Dec 19, 2006 9:04 pm

Are 1010 and 1050 restorable cars or parts cars? I was looking at the photos and wondered. 1027 looks really rough. Are plans to restore or is it better to leave it alone and display as a test model? It seems like that is what will happen per the story. How legit is the story on 1042? One more question. Are there enough panels and parts to build another Tucker? I know it wouldn't be a factory built.

I guess all of the posts I read on the old board about finding a "missing" Tucker weren't true at all. For a while I would read about them but nothing more to the story. There was also a story about a convertible in Wisconsin, maybe?

Just bored on a Tuesday night and thought I would ask some questions.

Thanks!

1050 Alive and well

Postby mlm1088 » Wed Nov 07, 2007 6:50 am

On Sunday I was really excited to see 1050 at the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History, in Rosanky TX. The museum is out in the middle of nowhere, but it's really great - fantastic machines on display.

I almost fell over when I walked through the door and the first thing I saw was Tucker 1050. It looked as though it had just rolled off the line - it was beautiful! I hadn't expected to see it and it's still not listed on their site, but it really made my whole day! What an amazing car.

I'll be going there this coming Friday (6/27/08) and hopefully it will still be there. I'll take plenty of pics and post them.

Good news. We visited #1050 today, and it looks terrific. I took several photos of not only the Tucker, but many cars at the museum. I'll be posting them after I get back to DFW. The caretaker let me in back of the rope around the car and opened the "hood" and doors for me to get better pictures too. Can't ask more than that.

The museum itself was something of a surprise. It's out in the middle of nowhere, and pretty much serves to house the collection of a local, but all the cars are top notch with many super-low mileage originals. It's a very eclectic collection ranging from Dueseys, a Cord (L29 and a 810/812) plus a nice Auburn to boot. Some large Packards, Caddys and Stutz's are there too. Too many to mention. It took us about an hour-and-a-half to get through it. It was worth it though.

Thanks for the photos and updates on on 1050. Really nice.

Bored on a Monday night and thought I would ask some follow up questions.

Any news on 1010 or 1027?

Any more to the 1042 story in Memphis? Any parts or anything?

What kind of progress is being made on the convertible?

Did anyone buy the 1018 frame off of eBay? On 1018, are there enough parts like the cowl to do a restoration with NOS left over parts? I see where the owner of 1027 has some of 1018 parts. Maybe the cowl and frame from 1018 can be re-married and restored with original parts?

Since I am asking, was anyone able to make end roads in Brazil on 1035?

Thanks!

Getting ready for Thanksgiving and thought i would dig my old thread up.

What kind of progress is being made on the convertible? I saw the pictures and even if the car is or isn't one that rolled down the line, it would be neat to see it finished or sold so it could be finished.

Was anyone able to make end roads in Brazil on 1035? You know they found Ed Roth's Mysterion in Mexico, bought and restored it. I know off subject.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks John, I will check it out. I am glad to see 1050 out and about now.

Is the mystery solved on 1042 for sure? It was taken to the salvage yard?

Somewhere, I have a book on how to restore old cars. I have misplaced it but I do remember a photo of a Tucker dash in it. I got the book around 1975. I guess at that time Tuckers weren't that sought after. If I ever find it, I will scan it and post it. It would be interesting to see if anyone recognizes the car.

Here are some picture I took of #1050 in Dec of 07. This car is as good as it gets. My friends and
I were a little nervous getting so close to such a rare and expensive car. The caretaker allowed us
to remove the ropes and take a few pictures. I let the caretaker open the car. And close it too.
Didn't want to risk chipping any paint. I stuck my head inside, took a few pictures, but didn't dare
sit in the seat. That would have been awesome.
