There are two Tuckers in Japan, and one in Brazil. As for the rest I think they are all in the US.
Hi all,
I wanted to see where the automatic Tucker is located and is there any pictures of it? Was the Tucker the first automatic car ever made? Was the transmission different and was the wiring different also? Please reply!!!!!!!!
Tucker Serial Number 1027 has the Warren Rice designed Tuckermatic automatic transmission installed. I restored this automobile for the current owner. The vehicle is in his collection in Alexandria, VA. The wiring harness in considerably different from the harness of those Tucker's that had the Cord or the Y-1 transmissions. Changes were ongoing in the development of the automatic transmission. The shift lever mounted on the steering column has three positions. Forward, neutral and reverse. On this developmental transmission you had to stop the engine to shift from forward to reverse or vice versa. You also had to start the engine in either forward or reverse as you could not shift from neurtal to either of the above selections with the engine running. This was a developmental transmission and many changes would have been made had Tucker continued. Unfortunately this did not happen. It is said that Tucker 1042 also had an automatic transmission. This car was destroyed by vandals in Tennessee in the early 1950's and few parts have ever been found of it.
If you have not yet seen the pictures of the #1004 on the JANC reply about Tuckers out of this country, I would like you to do so as the car listed as #1004 is an automatic. It is a very good picture of the shifter, on the column.

Sorry, I missed that one. The Tuckermatic transmission is on Tucker 1026. I have not seen the photo of Tucker 1004. What is JANC? And how can I look at the photo? Tucker 1004 had the Cord selector and Cord transmission when it was in Richmond,CA.for the movie.

als91f350, all Tucker shifters were on the columns. Serial #1004 is still the Cord transmission and shifter. The automatic was a single lever with 3 positions as Richard previously stated.
Wasn't #1004 George Lucas' car? Red? I think that's what Cammack told me but it was a while back. Jay and I were trying to figure this out the other day.

Lucas Films Ltd. purchased Tucker Serial Number 1003, from William Pettit of Louisa, Va. Mr. Pettit had the car in his museum for many years. Tucker SN 1003 was Maroon and carried the Paint NO. 600. Tucker 1004 at the time of the movie was owned by Ray Burton but has since been sold. Tucker SN 1004 was originally Silver Grey and carried the Paint NO. 500. 1004 was painted Maroon when it was restored a few years prior to 1987 by William (Bill) Hamlin in Ontario, CA.
Hmm. For some reason I always thought Lucas had the other automatic.

JANC was the user name of the person who posted a reply about Tuckers out of the U.S. dated 6-13-03. I was wrong about the transmission shifter, as my untrained eye thought that what I was seeing, is indeed a standard shifter. Please forgive my ignorance. The web site can be found by going to;
This is a Japanese site and you will be asked to download, japanese text download support,when asked, click download. Sorry for the mixup on my part. By the way, This is a great site you have here. Allen Adkins
