Greetings from Texas! Newbie here, but lurker for a while, and must say I love how nice everyone on this board is.

I recently got assigned to do a background on Tucker 1009 for school, so I thought I'd come here first.

If anyone on here has any references, know any facts or know anyone that may know details on this car, please post it on here. :D

Any details, no matter how big or small, help a great deal. I would like to form some kind of timeline. Thank you all so very much!

Just wondering why #1009? Lucas Films Ltd. are very private.

Tucker 1009

Newbie,
You picked a rather unique Tucker for a couple of reasons. First is that 1009 was the first Tucker with a 130 inch wheelbase. Those before it (Serial Number 1001 through 1008) had a 128" wheelbase. Starting with 1009 a 3/4" sub floor sitting on 1" blocks was added as the floor was too deep. Also the steering column was lengthened an additional 2 inches to make up for the extra wheelbase. The trailing arms were lenghtened 2" making the car wheelbase 130". On the rear suspension, these trailing arms were bonded in Torsiilastic cylinders , 2 units per axle.
Tucker 1009 had body number 1011 and engine serial number 33512. It has a paint number of 500 which was Silver Grey.
It did not have inside ash trays, these were first started in Tucker 1012. Dealers could have retrofitted others. Records indicate it has a Y-1 transmission and a Cord transmission selector mounted on the steering column.
A previous owner in 1964 was Tim Lamoureux in California. It was sold to Bill Goodwin and was restored by Bill Hamlin in Ontario, California. Mr Goodwin displayed it in his museum in Frankfort, Indiana for several years and sold it in July/August 1987 to Steve Collins who was purchaser for Lucas Films, Ltd.
Tucker 1009 was in the movie "Tucker The man And His Dream".

To clarify a point, the rear of the Tucker uses two torsilastic units. One on the right rear and one on the left rear.

Just trying to clear up what engine is in #1009.

Back on Fri Oct 06, 2006 2:56 pm, Richard posted under topic Tucker 1009 that

"Tucker 1009 had body number 1011 and engine serial number 33512."

Then on Sun Jun 07, 2009 1:51 am under Where is Tucker Frame 1027 it was posted that

"1049 - Engine Number 33512"

I know it's hard to keep all of this straight. Does anyone know what engine is in each of these cars
and what engines were in them at the time they left the factory. If they have engines changed, in
what point in their history did that happen?

Thanks !
