1018 was totaled outside of East Aurora N.Y. , my father took a photo of it still wrapped around the tree it slid into. I have the original photo, there are copys at both Gillmore and Ypsi museums. He was not sure of the actual date, but thought it to be in '48. The Tucker ripped in half when it was pulled off the tree, so I question the photo of the frame.... is it a complete piece?

Rick,
I have to believe that it is of 1018. I have photos of the front end of 1018 when Les Sheaffer had it in Steelton, PA and at that time it still had the front end on the frame. That is it had the front fenders, grills bumper and the section where the center head light is mounted. All of the sheet metal forward of the windshield. The frame to the rear looks exactly as the frame that is displayed in the photo Tom refered to. Other than the picture showing the front metal sheet is gone, the rest appears to be the same as the photos I have of 1018. When I took my photos the car also had a steering wheel and dash panel still on it.

Tom & Rick
I have photos of Tucker 1018 prior to its accident. Some of them were taken in front of Gary Daniels Chevrolet Dealership Blvd. in Orchard Park, NY. Orchard Park is approximately 7.5 miles from East Aurora, NY. Today Daniels Chevrolet is at 3575 Southwestern Blvd. in Orchard Park.

Richard, I would really be interested in seeing copies of your pictures! I had my Dad check the archives at the local paper ( East Aurora Advertiser ) for any articles pertaining to the accident, all he found was a ad stating a Tucker would be on display at ( I believe ) a local dealer. Perhaps Gary Daniels? I recall the car being from Brantford PA, not really that far from E.A., probably returning home. There were 2 gentlemen in the vehicle that had passed another car, lost control, slid sideways into the tree hitting on the rear passenger-side door. Neither man was injured ( a testament to the design) in what was obviously a very hard hit. My Dad was playing baseball at the one-room schoolhouse across the street and happened to have a camera, taking a shot of it wrapped around the tree. He witnessed it being ripped in two by the wrecker, but only took the one picture.

Looks like the tree got the best of this one. However 1018 came out a lot better than 1023. The concrete poles collapsed on 1023 when it was in the fire in DeLand, FL and crushed it completely. Sure would like to find someone who has more information or photos of 1042.

The seller would have a difficult time proving to me that this is the frame of Tucker 1018. I saw and photographed the front part of the body and frame when Les Sheaffer had it in Steelton, PA and I don't believe it could ever be reassembled to look like this. I think this is one of possibly three test frames that Tucker had. This is only my personal opinion.

Please note that this frame has coil springs in the rear. anyone know of any Tucker that had rear coil springs? All I have viewed had the torsilastic units. While the basic frame may be Tucker I just don't believe this is 1018.

One last comment.
When George Esch had this frame he indicated that the front part of it came from 1018 and the rear part was from body 55. Said it took 30 months to redo. maybe that is why it has an Olds rear suspension setup.
Have sent photos to the webmaster hope he can post them.

After email with the seller this is the frame that George Esch had and it came from Tucker 1018.
Sorry for the confusion.
