Tucker Replicas

Hi everyone. I just saw Ida Automotive's website. Does anyone know how much they want for a new Tucker 48? Has anyone ordered the brochure? Do you think it is worth the ten bucks?

Replicars

I believe IDA AUTOMOTIVE had offered their Tuckers at $150,000 - 175,000 but they are not currently building any. I understand that they completed two and both have recently been offered for sale at auction.
Tucker replicars

Postby Kareem 2004 » Thu Mar 13, 2003 3:44 am

My name is Paul and I am a huge Tucker fan out in Minnesota. I was wondering where I could get a complete Tucker donor kit in Minnesota and if I can make my own steel frame to fit it. I was also wondering if a 1998 Lincoln Continental powerplant (275 hp Intech) would be the appropraite engine/transaxle assembly to use.

Howdy Paul,
Contact Bill Pomering at the TUCKER AUTOMOBILE CLUB and ask for Chick Deleronzo's address and phone number he can far tell you better info than I can when writing Chick ask for a price guide and info on the kit it will tell you everything you need to know.
Tucker Replica - Ida Automotive

Postby Powerflow6 » Wed Mar 26, 2003 1:03 am

I recently queried Ida Automotive about how many New Tuckers have been produced. I was surprised at the resistance I encountered in answering my question. I was told that the quantity produced is "confidential." I appealed but I still did not get an answer or explanation for the confidentiality. I was offered the opportunity to buy a New Tucker for $230K and a brochure for $25 - both prices of which conflict with the information I've seen on this board and information I've read elsewhere. I expected an enthusiastic, welcoming response to my inquiry of the New Tucker. I guess my expectation was too high. I still see no reason why such information would have to be protected.

Anyway, I no longer have the "warm fuzzies" to further pursue an order for a New Tucker from Ida Automotive. Heck, for $230K I might as well hold out for the real thing.

On another note, I wonder how the 2 that were allegedly produced by Ida Auto (according to one of the posts here) are holding up?

Tucker Replica Much Cheaper Than IDA

Postby pingding22 » Wed Mar 26, 2003 1:18 am

I know what you mean about IDA Auto they were not very friendly with me either so I thought hell with them but I did find a Tucker kit that you have to buy then build and IDA is based on these replicas because the guy who has these kits helped them come up with all there stuff his name is Chick DeLeronzo in New Jersey he is a very nice man and you can contact him through the Tucker club just subscribe to the Tucker tribune and then with that email address of the editor ( I think) he is the editor but anyway ask him for Chick's number and address and when you talk to Chick ask him for a sales pamplet stating how much everything is and there you go you will have your TUCKER the kit is only about $8,000 but I believe it is well worth that money and Chick is a much nicer man than IDA!!! Oh one more note Chick was the one who built the cars for the Tucker movie and also built the car in the roll over scene in the movie out of a studebaker and it was called the STUCKER but anywho contact the Tucker club and ask for Chicks phone number and address and he will tell you everything you need to know. He also own an origanl Tucker number 51 one of the ones that Tucker never finished and that alone is worth the time and effort of contacting him. Good Luck.
Tucker Replica

Postby Powerflow6 » Wed Mar 26, 2003 1:25 am

Brett,

Thanks for the scoop. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has encountered Ida and received similar treatment as I did. Yes the $8K kit is far more economical than the $230K (or whatever) price tag for an Ida Tucker.

I browsed the boards some more and found someone mentioned that Ida stopped building their version after 2.5 due to excessive cost. If that is what happened, then I see no shame in that...why didn't Ida just say so? Oh well, I'm over it - like you.

Thanks again!
Tucker Replica

Postby plancor 792 » Wed Mar 26, 2003 7:13 pm

Chick Delorenzo did not build the 4 replicars that were used in the movie nor did he build the Studebaker built for the roll over scenes. The four replicars were built by Mike Fennel Enterprises of Los Angeles, CA. Chick had his uncompleted Tucker in Richmond CA for the making of the movie, however it or no part of it was used in the movie. He had purchased it from the Poll Museum in Zeeland, MI. I know, I was there and was hired by Lucas Films Ltd to work on the 22 original Tucker's there for the movie.
You are entitled to believe what you want. However trusting in Chick DeLorenzo will not be getting the truth. He has continually put articles out as to his involvement in the making of the movie. I am aware of one article that appeared in a New York newspaper where he said he was involved with his car. He is wrong and is lying. I knew him years prior to the making of the movie and can tell you he does not tell the truth. I was there when the four replicars were delivered and saw the work that was done on them to keep them from overheating. Delorenzo was there for awhile. Were you to get a copy of the "Tucker " Crew List, revised May 1, 1987 you might note that the Replicar Car Builder was Mike Fennell 25655 Springbrook Ave. Saugas, Ca 91350. Best you quit believing what DeLorenzo says. He is full of hot air or worse. He had nothing to do with the movie other than being invited out for a day while they were shooting the car scenes. He used the money Lucas gave him to use his car to pay for his transportation out, then stayed with my friend Russ in his trailer that Russ had parked on the set. His vehicle was in such poor condition it was not used as well as two other vehicles in the scenes in the movie. I have copies of my paychecks where Lucas paid me. I don't think he can produce any. Also I have letters from Francis Ford Coppola plus other items to prove I am correct in the above. And I am not ashamed to show my name.
Sincerely,
Clarification,
The "Tucker" Crew List was a list of all those persons who in one capacity or another had something to do with the production of the movie.Eight pages long it starts out with the Executive Producer George Lucas and his telephone number, goes all the way through those involved, including Production Department, Art Department,Set Decoration Dept.,Props Dept.,
Construction Dept., Camera Dept., Grip Dept., Electric Dept.,Wardrobe Dept., Make Up / Hair, Sound Dept., Special Effects Dept., Editorial dept., Transportation Dept., First Aid and Stunts. It list names, telephone numbers and in most cases the extension numbers and or beepers for those people.
It was put out by Tucker Production Office in San Rafael, Ca.
As I recall DeLorenzo did drive one of the Tucker automobiles in some of the scenes in the movie. No idea which one but it definitely was not the vehicle he sent out to Richmond, CA.
