Tucker convertible in Wisconsin?

He had 50+ years to get it right!

Why would an entire area behind the passenger door be missing if this was a new car back in 1948? Why would this car look so bad and need a total restoration if it has been in storage so long?

Now on the other hand if this is a true Convertible you can tell it was driven a lot due to the restoration work it needs so people should have seen this car driving around a lot and you think there would have been more photos and more people would have seen it.

Looks to be built from parts as someone stated....
Just should have built a complete Tucker instead of a
fantasy car... would be worth more... what a shame...
Doesn't look right what are they gonna do with the
gapping hole behind the doors.. looks off. Should have
tried to build a complete Tucker or maybe just a Tucker
two door... Which would have been more believable than
a four door convertable.... Just my opion....

Looking at that car again...how nice it would be to have.
Agree or disagree at least someone is trying to do something
other than letting it rust away. Look at the poor one in Brazil
or the one that was rolled years ago and sets slowly rotting away.
Would like to see this one complete either as a convertable
or scrap that idea and take it back to an original... with the Ida's
you would think they could finish it up....

i don't know if this car is real or not, but, i've been building custom cars for a long time and i can tell you that that convertible top frame is a work of art. i don't see any tell tale signs that it's from another car. notice how the top folds into the rear bulkhead, how the angle and slope looks similar to the original tuckers also how the front header lays on the windshield. thats the work of a true craftsman whomever he maybe.

as far as the car looking like a converted 4 door. thats exactly what it would have been being a prototype.

my only problem is that i don't think tucker would have had time to work on a prototype convertible. he was under so much pressure to produce the 50 that i don't see him worrying about a convertible.

Reinert told me personally in 2002 it was from a Buick. Perhaps the story has changed since, but that's what came from the owner's mouth.

the side "windows" look like 50's gm. but it's heavily modified. if you'll notice the wood bracing and vice grips in the rear. it appears to be being installed rather than restored. good work either way.

What amazes me is why the owners would not want TACA to help them with the car especially if it s a real Tucker convertble.
