Well no doubt it's Mark's 1006. 1008 is red and in Chicago. It was at the convention.

This information about where #6 was, how it was found and restored
along with the great images should be added to the "See A Tucker"

Sorry to disagree with some of the statements on Tucker 1006 but members of TACA found this vehicle in the early 70's in Richard Guzowski's garage in Detroit, MI. I corresponded with Mr. Guzowski for years. I question the statement that this car was used as the standard that all following cars had to meet. I had many conversations with Dan Leabu about the car and it was never mentioned that this car was a standard. Mainly because each Tucker had specific differences as they were built and no two are exactly the same except all had the same body and the 335 engine. Some had Cord transmissions, some had Y-1 transmissions, from serial number 1026 up they had completely diifferent suspensions, different way to turn the center headlight and different location of the gas tank. Tucker 1023 had different inside door handles and 1026 had different outside door handles. No where has the name Barney Tucker come up. What department was he in and what was his badge number?
Sure hope someone comes up with answers to the above.

I really appreciated the clarifying information received on Tucker 1006 from Mark yesterday. To briefly sum up everything, TACA members knew of the car belonging to Mr. Guzowski however no one had seen it and it was not seen until the 1990's when it was moved outside the garage it was in. Mr Guzowski also said the car had 15,000 miles on the speedometer, and it had a burned out clutch. He also had 2 spare engines, spare fenders, fender wells, bumpers, suspension units, Tucker Topics and a phonograph record made at the introduction of the car. With reference to 1006 being used as the standard for all future Tucker's this referred to body fit, panel alignment and such not with mechanical features of the cars. Tucker was just beginning to receive some stamped body panels for the car. Mr. Barney Tucker worked at Ypsilanti and was not on the payroll of employees in the Engineering Department in Chicago.

Wow!
As far as the 2 spare engines, spare fenders, fender wells, bumpers, suspension units, Tucker Topics and a phonograph record made at the introduction of the car... Is all that still with this car? The spare parts
have got to be worth a ton by themselves.

My Uncle Richard was the original owner of 1006. I am working on finding out as much info as I can to share with everyone. My father Ed was Richards younger brother(Ed passed in 1986) so getting accurate information is hard for me. I recently found 2 photos of 1006 and will post them soon. I am digging through old photos and papers to see if I can come up with anything else. I remember Barney's name and know that he worked on the car but can't remember the conection.

The mystery of "Barney Tucker" was covered in an article that was published over several issues of Tucker Topics in December 2005 and February 2006.

TACA members should now have this information available to them.
