Bill Pettit purchased Tucker 1003 in 1967. I believe he purchased it from Nick Jennin. Tucker Serial Number 1003 has a body number of 1003.
Tucker 1003 was not in Richmond for the movie and did not appear in the movie. In fact Lucas did not purchase it until after the movie had been made.
Tucker 1003 has an early radio. The control head push buttons read 1-2-3-4-5-M. At the time I inspected the car (1985) the speedometer read 13,391 miles. I am sure that the actual mileage is at least 100,000 miles above the 13,391 showing.
The Serial Number of Lucas other Tucker is 1009. Not 1011. 1011 is the Body Number of 1009. The problem here is that the body munber is stamped in large numbers on the data plate above the serial number. The serial number is half the size of the body number and is on the very bottom of the data plate. I have inspected this car and know this information is correct. Tucker Serial Number 1009 was in Richmond for the movie and is shown in several scenes. Lucas purchased Tucker Serial Number 1009 from the Bill Goodwin Museum in August 1987.
Some records indicate that Tucker Serial Number 1009 was purchased at auction by Ezra Schlipf who sold it to Nick Jennin. Jennin sold it to Tim & Toni Lamoureus of Santa Monica, CA. I know that Bill Hamlin of Ontario, CA helped Mr. Goodwin obtain this car and restored for him prior to Mr. Goodwin taking delivery.
