Tucker nos parts

Postby john » Mon Sep 05, 2011 7:26 am

Was talking with a friend up in Michigan that mentioned to me that he he looked at some original upholstered seat covers in a tucker box last week.

Was wondering if their are repo seat covers that have been made/reduplicated from a oiriginal set ?

It would seem to me that having exact color and stitch from covers that have never seen daylight, they would be a perfect candidate to reproduce exact invitational show quality covers?
All the best today,

There are plenty of original Tucker Seat Covers available. I have several sets to sell yet myself. The Tucker seatcovers are just a nylon pull over cover like others that were on the market.

I recently sold a complete interior that was removed from one of the Tuckers during its restoration. Pretty cool to see how each piece was cut and put together. The material they used was a great quality and would last a long time if it were not for the sun fading it out.

I'm not sure how much market there is for Tucker Seat covers or reproductions. There are a handful of cars that could use a good pattern to use during their restoration but other than that I doubt we'll see anyone putting seat covers on their million dollar car.

I guess I should have been clearer in my post.
These are original seat covers, crispand are exacting, as installed at the factory when the Tuckers were being built.
These are NOS seating material from 1948.

Sorry for the confusion.

Original Tucker upholstery was never in a Tucker box. Having owned a Tucker interior I can tell you that it was all clearly made by hand. Each piece was cut by hand and the seats, door panels, headliner, visors, arm rests, etc. all used the same material.

Ask your friend to post up some photos of original Tucker upholstery in a Tucker box. We'd all love to see them.

I called my buddy up in Michigan and asked him to take a picture of the NOS Tucker box and the NOS Tucker seat cover.
He said he would do that for me the next time he was back in that area of Michigan again.
So, I guess we will wait to see what the upholstery and the box look like when he sends the pictures.
