TACA Election 2011
As outlined by the Tucker Automobile Club of America, Inc. (TACA) bylaws, the election of all Officers and Directors is by majority vote of the active voting membership at large. To facilitate that each member is given the opportunity to cast a vote it has been the established precedent of the club for election ballots to appear in TUCKER TOPICS, with members returning their cast ballots by mail to the club Secretary, and the Secretary then being charged with opening, counting and providing a true and accurate tally of the results to the membership.
Due to a few unfortunate and unfounded accusations made against the Officers and Directors of TACA, the Officers and Directors employed the services of a CPA firm to count and certify the final results of this election.
In accordance with Article III - Section 3 of the TACA bylaws the Officers and Directors appointed the firm of Mark Wilson Certified Public Accountants of San Diego, CA as election inspectors due to their legal standing. On Wednesday June 22, 2011—the day following the close of election balloting—the club Secretary transported all 2011 TACA ballots, as received at the official club address and remaining in his custody at all times, to the office of the CPA. Three of their staff members then received, opened, inspected and counted all the ballots for this election and certified the final result in the Secretary’s presence.
It must also be stated that no Officer or Director has in any way performed any duty or held any office without the utmost integrity and honesty. The Officers and Board of TACA opted to incur the expense of utilizing an outside, unbiased CPA firm as inspectors for this election process ONLY to protect the club leadership from any further unfounded accusations, to assure the club membership that every vote has always been counted, and to provide the certified 2011 election results.
A copy of the CPA firm’s letter certifying these election results was provided to the TACA Officers and Directors, to each candidate via email, announced at Convention 2011 and will be published in the next issue of Tucker Topics.
The two (2) candidates for the position of TACA Director that received the majority of votes were Dr. Larry Clark and incumbent Michael Leasor.
The total vote results for this election were:
Dr. Larry Clark 95 votes
Michael Leasor 79 votes
Michael Schutta 39 votes
Eric Breslow 19 votes
We welcome both Michael Leasor and Dr. Larry Clark to the TACA board and look forward to their part in our continuing work to preserve the legacy of the Tucker automobile and all those involved with it and “keeping the legend alive.”
Respectfully,
The Officers and Directors of the
Tucker Automobile Club of America, Inc.
