CONVENTION 2011

Postby ebres63081 » Fri May 20, 2011 1:08 am

I wanted to start a fresh thread for just the convention! Who's joining us in So Cal next month... Home of the most Tucker's on the planet and home to several members of the Tucker family...

It's going to be quite an exciting couple of days...

The Petersen Museum to see Tucker 1030
The Nethercutt Collection to see 1040... And their incredible collection of automobiles and musical player machines including the 2nd largest pipe organ in private hands... I was lucky enough to spend a few minutes with Jack and Helen Nethercutt last weekend and they've promised an extra special tour for the Tucker club.
Our collection to see Tucker 1031 and a host of never before seen Tucker memorabilia including the Tucker Corp press book featuring every newspaper article from late 47 to late 48 about the Tucker Corp. The prototype radio display shown at the Tucker dealers meeting in July 48. Original Tucker dealer manuals, printing plates, banners, lead letters requesting to buy a Tucker and sooooo much more...
Lots of special guests that a Tucker enthusiast may never get a chance to spend time with again
More cars still to be confirmed! and sooooo much more!

And for those hardcore car guys I can help arrange other collection tours on the Sunday after the convention as well as opening our collection for more personal time and research.

If anyone needs further assistance with LA arrangements go to our website www.breslowcollection.com and email me!

See you in JUNE!!!

For those of you that have not registered yet I'll make it real easy for you to do so. Since the Tucker Club has not figured out how to put the registration form online, here it is. Just capture it, print it out, and send your check to the address on the form.

Is there a "convention only" admission or is this $190 version with all the tours etc the only one available? I haven't been here in quite a while and am just now hearing about the convention. I do live in L.A. though :)

Or maybe this isn't a convention in the way that I think it is? Maybe everything that is listed IS the convention?

Your not the first person to ask about only attending the Tucker specific parts of the convention. Maybe the club directors can jump in here.

Either way please come by!

It's pretty much a one fee fits all. Years ago we used to break it up so that there was a base registration fee and then everything else was a la cart, but the club would inevitably lose money covering fixed costs (for lack of a better term) like the buses, banquet rental fees, or minimum people guarantees we needed to qualify for group rates. So doing one fee basically keeps everything equal and the costs are pass through.

Yeah OK I understand about the money. The only this is that it limits the casual Tucker fan, car enthusiasts or even just a fan who likes old cars and wants something to do with his family for the weekend. The price seems fair but as a casual Tucker fan I don't think I can swing it. Especially since I am about to launch my own tour down on Hollywood Blvd ... I can't be paying this fee and keeping my competition in business! LOL! :)

Here is my tour by the way http://www.movielocationtours.com if anyone wants to do something extra. Discount for Tucker fans. I should be open by the time the convention begins. Launching soon! :)

How many people does this attract anyways?

Crow, the last thing we want to do is dissuade anyone from participating. I do not personally have the itinerary of the convention, but get a hold of Bill (secretary<at>tuckerclub.org), Martyn (historian<at>tuckerclub.org) or Eric and perhaps there are portions of the convention that you can 'show up for' and pay your own way into the museums, etc.

From reading about Conventions past, this is probably the first one in a few years with more than one car. I'm sure it would have been hard for the Club to create any sort of special event for the public when someone could simply come a month later and see the same car.

Eric Breslow has put together an amazing collection of cars and memorabilia for us to see at the home of #1031. I'm hoping to have one of my Tucker motors there on display and there will be Tuckers there to see.

Most Tuckers aren't moved around as much as they were in the past and there are only a handful of owners that will bring a car to a Convention so this may be the best opportunity to see several cars in one place. It's well worth the $190.00 cost. Where can you go and see that many Tuckers for less than the cost of a tank of gas?

ATTENTION

HUGE LAST MINUTE SURPRISE WARNING

There has been a huge, and very heavy, last minute addition to the items on display at the home of #1031. True Tucker fans will really appreciate this. Don't miss the once in a lifetime chance to see a HUGE part of Tucker history.

I believe the owner of Tucker #1045 also has a couple of surprises arriving.
