Clicked on the website for Jalopnik, but could find no picture of the Tucker. Can you check the link and see if it is correct?

Hi --

The car was developed by Harry Miller under an agreement w/ Gulf Oil Company. This was after his work with Ford. A good overview can be found here (check out the last 3 pages) http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/wmh/pdf/spring02_gerber.pdf.

The "Miller-Gulf Special" was later known as the "Tucker Torpedo Special" when it was sponsored by PT and raced in the Indy 500 in 1947 (driven by Al Miller). PT bought the vehicle after that race.

There is also an unusual story on the early owners of the vehicle here http://m.timesrecordnews.com/news/2008/jun/14/i-went-numb-son-wichita-falls-race-driver-witnesse/.

Hope this helps.
