Tucker dealer plate research from 1948

Postby ebres63081 » Fri Apr 15, 2011 2:35 am

Hello

I'm trying to authenticate the whereabouts of some of our historical items. Does anyone have any history on dealer plate 59? It's one of the black and yellow plates from Chicago given to Tucker in 48?

Thanks
1031's Dad

Maybe Larry, Richard, or Martyn would have a list from over the years. I'll send a few e-mails and see what I can find. I think Joe might have had some records too.

There were some replicas advertised back in the late 90s. It appears there could be some fakes out there. Here is the ad. Did anyone ever see how real looking they were? I'd hate to drop $1200 on a plate and have it turn out to be a replica.

Sorry I have nothing on those 1948 & 1949 plates. Never did any research on them as too much else was going on trying to locate all the cars.

Mike,

The 'reissue' plates were from the Mid America Plate Collectors Association. They were a white plate with a copy of the 1948 black/orange plate printed on it, and a Tucker to the left. There's no way you could mistake them for genuine.

That's what Russell was selling.

Plates are actually one thing I wouldn't worry about being fake.

Good! Make me a black 1963 North Carolina plate with an orange JL 327 on it! Then all I'd need is a black-and-white 1963 Ford Galaxie 300 sedan to go behind it...
