Parts needed

Postby clasex » Tue Feb 08, 2011 2:59 pm

We are restoring # 1015 and are looking for information or parts for this Tucker.

I believe we have located the vent window seals we were looking for will add to that when confirmed.

We are looking for the sun visor pivots and the ash tray recepticals.

Thanks
Bruce

Bruce,

Have you tried Martyn for that information? Richard Jones is the only other person
I can think of that has that kind of knowledge. I'm sure they are off some other make
of car but Tucker was an equal opportunity buyer. They bought parts from everyone
so it's not easy to figure out. Also they may be different from car to car.

We have received the seals and as soon as possible will respond if they work (frames are out at this moment) .

We are also looking for the brand and part number for replacement u-joints.

Being new to this, how would one contact Martyn or Richard Jones?

Thanks for your help

Sorry to have not been able to answer sooner. Been in the hospital and am far from well. Anyway, I have no information on the visor pivots or the ash trays. However while Russ Brownell and I were testing Tucker 1015 I broke the right rear universal joint. Inspection showed it had been going for some long time. We replaced it with an early NAPA 513 or 513G universal. The G has a greese fitting with a 1 1/2 cup diameter grease fitting. The late Tucker's take the NAPA544 universal. A new number for this universal joint is NAPA 230-4014

Thanks for all of the help!!!, U-joints are done, still working on the ash trays in the rear door panels and the sun-visor pivots. Picked up all of the bearings and seals from Ol Car Bearing (Thanks George). Found a set of front shocks. Staring to go back together.

We have found the ash trays, purchased them from Vintage Auto Warehouse in Frederick MD. (301-874-5464) they are a complete assembly with proper mounting points, they are painted but we can have them plated. They are for a 40-48 Lincoln, and appear to be new.

The sunvisors we have ordered but have not arrived will respond as information is confirmed.

We are looking for the bezel that surrounds the push button on the passenger door.
There is a glovebox style door, we have the latch and button but are missing the trim ring around the button.

Glad I was able to help with the Lincoln ashtrays. There are two types of ashtrays in the Tuckers. Some have a round knob and some have a more square knob. Of course Tuckers #1001 - #1011 had no ashtrays from the factory.

I'll see what I can find on the door button bezel. For some reason I seem to remember it being from a 1940-50 Willys Jeep Station Wagon like this one. Some Tuckers use one like in this photo while others have a smooth one without the spokes or notchs in the bezel.

Maybe if Richard feels up to it he can comment on the door button. He is the all time expert on this stuff.

Jeep or Kaiser would be worth looking into. Don't have any information available just now but seems I recalled that they used those buttons. Good luck,

I'll be damned if I didn't have some of those Willys buttons with the notches in them. I restored a 46 Willys Wagon a few years ago and boxes full of parts, given to me by the owner after he "started" the restoration himself, disassembled it and got in over his head. I looked for them, but I must have gotten rid of them with the other Jeep parts. I know it's a little late now, but if I had known they were also used on this fine automobile as well, I would have kept them. This is why I shouldn't listen to my Wife when she says I need to get rid of the stuff "I don't need anymore"! Anyway, Good luck and hope to see pictures soon.
