Mr. Barnette, you are one of the few lawyers to admit to a mistake. Thanks for the reply.
tractiondk, you cannot go by body numbers as the bodies were randomly welded on the frames. I had Tucker Serial Number 1023 here for several months. Owner brought it to me and I was to buy it but he renigged when he didn't come up with the title. and he eventually hauled it to Deland, put it in an Allied Van Lines Warehouse. The warehouse burned to the ground and he lost everything. That Tucker had Body Serial Number 1008 and the number 8 was stamped in the firewall next to the DataPlate. Data Plate said Body Serial Number 1008. There are some Tuckers where the Body Serial number and the Car Serial Number match. But not all of them. Just as one example Tucker Serial Number 1012 has Body Serial Number 1012 and is stamped 12 next to the Data Plate. There are others.

As an avid drag racer I am going to have to believe thats is no more then a "story". 130 mph in the 1/4 mile is in line with high 10 to low 11 second 1/4mi times. Depending on the weight of the car you need approx 600hp at the flywheel to do this. A good example is the new Corvette ZR1. 638hp and approx 3300lbs and it runs in the neighborhood of 11 secs flat and 130mph (depending on conditions and driver)

Now I can defiantly see the Tucker running 131mph in a full mile which is an extraordinary feat for a car in the 40s/50s. There are still many cars today that would have a hard time pulling that off.

Richard,

How much will it cost me for you to let me dig up #1023? With the prices they are selling for it would probably
be worth the HUGE cost it would take to bring it back. After seeing what some people start with when they restore
cars, old #1023 might be worth bringing back !!!

Besides, they are not making Tuckers anymore (unless you're Justin Cole).

Breaking News, Old Cars Weekly is now reporting that the O'Quinn Collection will be liquidated in auctions conducted by RM. They have listed the cars involved, but the list does not include Tucker #1045! Perhaps I will still get it for display in May in Texarkana? Stay Tuned! Charles D. Barnette-I am keeping my fingers crossed!

RM should just buy 1045 and keep it - they restore so many Tuckers as it is, it would be good to have a permanent point of reference.

I'll be surprised Russo & Steele doesn't get the Tucker since they have so much Tucker experience now.

It appears that a number of cars from the collection have already been sold, and 240 have been consigned with RM.
55 cars have been consigned for RM's Automobiles of Amelia Island event March 13, and the remainder from that group
will cross the block at the Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale event March 26-28. That leaves about 430 cars that have
either been sold or are still to be sold from the collection. When O'Quinn passed away, the collection consisted of
approximately 670 cars, including 24 Duesenbergs and 11 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts, with virtually every other genre of
collector car represented and even included the famous Jay Leno Harley Davidson that was signed by many stars and
auctioned off to benefit tsunami and Katrina victims.

Here is the list of cars to be auctioned by RM:

As a prophetic prediction, wouldn't it be ironic if both 1045 and 1046 show up at the RM 2010 Auction in Monterrey; where in 2008, 1038 sold for over one million? Tucker History? Charles

Re: Tucker #1045 vs. Tucker #1046

Postby CDB » Sun Feb 07, 2010 12:07 pm

If both Tucker 1045 and 1046 showed up at an auction together, I wonder which would bring the most money? They were both affected by the "Jenin factor"! The frame and motor to 1045 would be original, whereas the frame for 1046 is being replicated; and I am unsure where the Tucker motor is coming from for the restored 1046. Charles

Re: Tucker #1045 will not come

It is now official that #1045 will not come to Texarkana in May to be displayed at our museum as I had hoped. The response I get is that "it will be unavailable". I am very disappointed! Although it is not currently on an RM list to be sold, I speculate it will be in the not too distant future. If it is, I hope it finds a good home in the USA. Charles

Postby Tuckerfan1053 » Tue May 11, 2010 9:28 am

RM Auctions is showing a Tucker on their site, with a notice saying that it's going up for auction in August. http://www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.c ... =r188&fc=0 Lots of nice photos of the car at the link.

Finally O'Quinn's Tucker emerges for an RM auction to be held in Monterey on August 13 and 14, 2010. Also at that auction from the O'Quinn collection will be the Jackie Kennedy car which is a 1962 Lincoln known as the small "Bubble Top". I hope both find good homes! Charles-remember that it was here that Tucker #1038 sold for over one million dollars in 2008.
