My Lego Tucker

Postby P.J. » Mon Jun 07, 2010 4:44 am

I've been playing around in Lego's Digital Designer program recently and decided to make a Tucker. It's not perfect, mostly due to the limitations of the program but I thought I'd share it here since I can't upload it to the Lego site due to copyright restrictions.

I also decided to make a Carioca. Here's some pics of it, I'm currently working on a Talisman as well.

The Carioca looks great. Do they then let you order all the pieces you need to make them?

They do. The problem is the cost. I priced them when I finished, the 48 is $280.57 and the Carioca is $152.83. I suppose it only makes sense
since the bricks are picked and packed by hand and you get to custom design your own box. Lego is nice enough to include a set of printed building instructions for free (If you ask for them when ordering)

Just finished the Talisman. I had to take a few liberties with the nose and rear end design because I've only ever seen 2 pieces of concept art for the car, the side view and the top view. The cost for this one would be $239.94 according to the designer program.

impressive work, its just too bad that they charge soo much for the parts to build your own creation.

I know. I tried making the Carioca into a convertible by removing the top and adding a boot to it and the price only dropped by $11.00 or so. If they weren't so expensive I'd order up one of each.

Have you seen this thread? Its got photos of a Lego Tucker someone built, and if I remember correctly, he didn't spend a huge amount of money on the project. Perhaps you can get some hints from the pictures or the links in the thread.

I have seen that Lego Tucker, he did an awesome job on it but it's very small and the ones I designed are closer to, if not slightly larger than 1/18. Plus I read in the thread that he had to modify some of the bricks to get the correct look and fit and the digital designer program doesn't allow you to do that. I've thought of trying to make a scaled down version but I'm not sure I'll like the result as much. Who knows though, if I'm in the right mood I might just save up and order one of them, I really like the way the Cariocia came out and it is the cheapest of the 3.

Here's a few more pics of the 3 cars as convertibles. For the 48 I cut the model down to make it look like the Benchmark convertible. On the Talisman I made a large rollbar just after the door where the color goes 2 tone.

Here's one of the interior of the Talisman, It has a gauge cluster, front buckets with console and rear bench seat with arm rest. If you look closely you can see the top of the shifter and the blinker switch on the steering column as well as one of the interior opera lights on the B pillar.
