For Sale:
Genuine Tucker Movie Car. Used in the movie "Tucker, A Man and His Dreams"
In the movie they hung replicated sheet metal on 70's Monte Carlos to make
them appear to be 1948 Tuckers. In fact the these Tucker/Monte replicas were
so close in detail to the real thing the movie producers had to bring in two
Tucker experts to keep the cars from getting mixed up. As you'll see in the
photo below even they would have a hard time telling them from the real deal.
This 1970 Monte Carlo was used in several scenes in the movie. It is said that
this is the only surviving replica from the movie and that Jeff Bridges used this
as his personal car during the filming.
The Monte has been certified authentic in an affidavit from Master Restorer
Yankin Urchain that says: "in early 1988, I saw the chassis and many sheet metal
parts for the Tucker/Monte Replica. I also saw that the body was stamped # 57
and its frame was reinforced at that time. I have also recently seen and inspected
the Tucker/Monte Replica and verified its authenticity."
There is also a letter from accountant Mel Koeppen saying he wanted to get
Jeff Bridges autograph which proves the car is genuine.
The car has been completely restored and is now in Wisconsin (where else?)
and is For Sale at a price of Five Million Dollars.
