Possible Model Kit

Postby Phantomrig » Sat Feb 06, 2010 3:44 pm

I sent an E-mail to Revell asking if they had any plans on making a Tucker model kit anytime soon. Revell makes all sorts of model kits in all kinds of sizes. I asked them if it would be possible to make one in 1/24 scale which is a very popular scale. A tucker would probably be about 8-10 inches in 1/24 scale. I have wanted to build a model of a tucker for along time and hopefully I will be able to do so in the future. I stressed to them that it would be important to keep the model affordable, In my opinion 20.00 is about appropriate for the average 1/24 scale model car. I personally dont care if they made the kit of the Tin Goose, an early model, or a late model. I would just like a Tucker Model that I built. I already have one of the Blue 1/18 scale pre built models, but we need something new. If you guys would be interested in getting a Tucker Model aswell I would suggest E-mailing the company and requesting it.

Here is Revell's Web Site. http://www.revell.com/

Let me know what you guys think.

I believe Modelhaus still sells a Tucker in 1/25 kit form: http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4234&p=63578 but at $72 may not be what you're jumping for. Testors did Ed Newton's Triclopz design, that's a custom job so probably not either. But any model company would do well to include a Tucker...I don't think they owe licensing fees on the name/design and it should be very popular. Hot Wheels added one on top of having previously done 3 variations of the Triclopz and I think Johnny Lightning has done well with all of its variations.

Phantom-What a wonderful idea! I have sent them an email with my request. I think everyone else should do the same. It sure would be alot easier than disassembling a metal bodied car and repainting them. I've had this idea of recreating the pilot production line with a dozen or so cars in various states of assembly. For reference I would use the picture from Phil Egan's book, and not the still frame from the movie, which is in accurate with the wooden buck in the frame.
If you didn't get dirty, then nothing was accomplished!

A wonderful idea! I have long thought that a 1/24 or 1/25 scale plastic Tucker kit would be a boon to modelmakers. About all you can do right now is make molds from the Franklin Mint car or create one from scratch.
I find it interesting that, according to the text on the model's box, Johnny Lightning ostensibly obtained the license to make their Tucker models from the Ford Motor Company! Huh? Check it out for yourself... :?

Maybe they could make a special edition of only one that is a convertible. Then hide it under some boxes in their back room for the next 60 years.
