Hi
I was wondering what happened to the chief mechanic john eddie offutt . I looked on wikipedia but I cant seem to Find a listing for this man at all . I was wondering did he have a falling out with mr. tucker . I dont see any info for him on there . It would be nice to no if he is alive or dead . I for one would like to no this . After all he's famous now and he should be listed or have a link to his name on wikipedia . I dont no it the tucker club has this info on this man . We should see his name on that website . Also the info after he worked for tucker corp would be helpful . I know that when he worked for the tucker corp he was the chief mechanic and work on the tucker miller race car .
So if anyone has info please add it to wikipedia , so the other people in the world no about this man, even if after working for the tucker corp he did something bad , I dont care for one if its bad and no one wants to say why .

Eddie Offutt passed away several years back. He and his wife lived in Lee's Summit, MO and Eddie and Lorraine (as I recall this was her name) attended some of the club meets. I have photos of Eddie and Tucker's lawyer Bll Kirby taken at one of the meets in Wellington. KS. I corresponded with Eddie for several years and met him at the club meets. He was one of the group Preston brought from Indy to Chicago to build the Tucker. Others were Dan leabu and the Ringling brothers. Tucker refered to the Ringling brothers as the "best body knockers in the world" meaning they could take a piece of sheet metal and make into anything they wanted to.
Sorry I can't give you a date when Eddie passed away. My filing system is in total dissaray.

If you go to Wikipedia and type in Eddie Offutt you will find some information. Also go to www.ask.com and type in Eddie Offutt for more information. Although Eddie's first name was John, most of the information is listed under Eddie Offutt.

Thank you for your reply to my post . I would like to see more info on this man , Like his age and were he was born and what he did before tucker and after he worked for Preston Tucker . I went to wikipedia and http://www.ask.com I did not see much info On Eddie Offutt . I did see that Eddie's first name was John I understand that part . You see info on Alex Tremulis and so forth , But not very much about (John Eddie Offutt) . I also No that there was 6 board members names that I also dont see up on the internet . I did not no this until I had a look at some old newspaper clippings from the chicago daily tribune . I found out alot about the Tucker Corp in the old newspaper . I also known for a long time that the Tucker automobile Plant was on the south side of chicago or Now the Ford city shopping mall . I use to go there when I was small and latter in life , I grew up on the north side and south side . My mother family is from the south side and my aunt use to take me there as a kid . The bus driver use to call that stop something different than ford city shopping mall . I just cant remember what , I think it was in relation to the Tucker Plant . Well Thats all I can Think of for now .
