Were there any Tuckers actually sold to people before the gov't siezure & auction?

No Tuckers were actually sold to customers. From what I've read, it appears none of the first 50 were
slated to be sold, but rather were being used as prototypes. Tuckers initial idea was to build 125 such
units in groups of 25 with each group getting closer to the actual production car. As we all know, there
were still bugs to be worked out on the first 50 but they were certainly getting close to building a
really good auto. My guess is the cost would have come down when they went into the production
phase and if they ever found cheap steel.

I want to thank everyone who has stepped up to help a newbie like me with my courisosity.
Interesting to me is that Tucker experienced problems introducing his car that parralell in many ways the introduction of another "look ahead car", E.L. Cord & Gordon Buherigs 810-812 Cord. The scene at the showing of the "Tin Goose" & it having no reverse gear, is similar to the first showing of the Cord Sedan at the National Auto show--- in order to show at that event the AMA rule was a Mfg. was supposed to have 100 completed cars , Cord had nowhere near that , about 29 is the best guess, but the AMA never seemed to notice . Another similarity is the Cord show cars not only had no reverse --- THEY HAD NO GEARS in their transmissons at ALL. The Cord trans-axle was having problems with freezing up due to lubrication problems, eventually solved by using less oil & installing a pump in the tranny. It has been widely written that there were no transmissions in them , but because it is a TRANS-AXLE unit , the housing had to be there to support the wheels, but the trans box itself was empty!
It is sad that the Cord empire was brought down by the depression & even sadder that at a time of economic Boom after the war thar another great car was still born.
