Clars only charged a 2% buyer's premium on Tucker #1041, so the hammer price plus the buyer's premium came to a total of $765,000. Then add CA tax onto the $750,000. Plus, update the insurance policy Monday morning. The rest of the savings can be used for the black respray...

I prefer they go to private collections because even though they're not always as accessible, they do sometimes show up to conventions and sometimes result in new TACA members. But above all, they are more likely to be available again some day. In a museum, they rarely ever leave and that effectively reduces the number of cars in existence in my mind.

It's going to take six figures to get 1041 into show condition. Add that to the price already paid, and I'd say that's a very expensive Tucker.

Talked with the new owner of Tucker 1041 awhile ago. It will stay in southern California. He is interested in getting the proper hub caps for the car and doing other work on it. Suspension, air filter, etc. He will give it a complete restoration. Carlos DeLorenzo doesn't have any more of the hub caps he made several years back so if any one knows where we may get them and the air filter please let me know. Air filter was a GM but some have different lengths. If you know the exact size or model Buick, Cadillac or whatever it was used on I would appreciate that information also.

Hi, my friend DeLorenzo still owns the molds for the hubcaps and one of the Tucker owners have the molds at this time trying to get new caps made for his car.

Prior to the sale, I contacted the gentleman in charge of getting items ready for the sale and in our conversation I told him that my estimate on the selling price of the car would be $750,000. I am glad that an individual did purchase No. 41. With the prices what they are today, I am afraid we will see more of our beloved Tuckers go abroad. Do we know who purchased No. 38 at Monterrey? Eileen and I would like to extend a cordial invitation to the new owner of No. 41 to visit No. 17.

It wouold seem only fitting that the powers to be in the club offer the new owner the reduced price to attend our upcoming event in Reno. We should make him feel welcome.

To the new owner of Tucker 41, this is a short notice, but the annual Tucker Convention is scheduled from Sunday, June 14 to Wednesday, June 17 at the Silver Legacy Hotel in Reno. The nightly rate for our group is $59.00. Hotel reservations can be made at 800-687-8733. The convention has several great sounding evemts scheduled which include tour to the National Automotive Museum, tour to Carson City, tour to Virginia City, a cruise aboard the M.S. Dixie II paddle wheeler, the annual banquet and a farewell breakfast Wednesday morning.

Eileen and I would certainly welcome you as a fellow Tucker owner. Martyn Donaldson is the convention host. He can be reached at historian@tuckerclub.org Hope we will see you in Reno.

Brad,

You've got a great car there, and one that has thrilled thousands and thousands of car fans for many, many years. It's been driven, shown, admired, well cared for and loved by Bev and Dorothy. I don't know if there are any other Tuckers out there that have put more miles on the odometer or more smiles on the faces of car fans, especially on the West Coast. Wherever it was shown, it quickly became the hit of the show. It was Bev's car that was going to be used in my wedding as our "getaway" car, and Bev was most gracious with his prized possession. Our plans changed, though, and we eventually got married further north making our #1041 Tucker plan impractical.

Anyway, the car you now own has so many great memories for so many and carries with it a very happy and cheerful legacy. When you get a chance, I know everyone would love to hear your recollection about those 7 1/2 minutes at Clars and the thrill it must have been when the hammer finally fell...

Congratulations!!!
