How many Tuckers are not accounted for...?

Postby Wingnutz » Fri Oct 29, 2004 10:05 am

I've been a Tucker fan for many years and met an older gentleman (about 80 years old) that owns a Tucker.

The Gentleman requested that I do not disclose his name or any other information that would infringe upon his privacy.

The car is Black with a Red interior, Very low miles 15K or so and has several years of dust on it and appears to be in mint condition.

I feel it's safe to mention that the car is located in Wisconsin and was purchased in 1956 from a car dealership in Kenosha Wisconsin.

From what I can gather..., he has never registered the car and put only a few miles on it since purchased.

I spoke to another Tucker Owner in Wisconsin that has a Green version and he told me that there were several cars that had not been accounted for the past few years.

Does this Black Tucker with the red interior fit the bill...?

Or has his son registered it since then...?

Sorry for being a bit vague to protect the anonymity of the present owner...!

Thankyou
Do you know what number it is? I am trying to find out the order in which the cars came off the line (colors) to make a minature production line from the models. Thanks, Eric

Edited by: ehartman13 at: 11/19/04 3:39 pm

Tucker's not accounted for

Postby plancor 792 » Wed Nov 10, 2004 4:45 am

Really appreciate your information, however a black Tucker with a red interior is very unusual. If you raise the hood you will find the data plate mounted on the firewall. On it will be a Paint number, a trim number, a body number and at the very bottom of this data plate you will see a Serial Number in much smaller numbers than the paint,trim and body numbers. Paint number will be from 100 to 600, Trim number will be from 900 to 940. The body number will be 4 numbers and Serial number will be a number from 1001 through possibly 1050. Also on the firewall next to the data plate you should find a number stamped into the body. This should be 2 numbers such as 8 or 19 or 35 or 48 something like that. The body number on the data plate would have a 10 in front of it and should correspond with the number stamped into the body.
Would really appreciate hearing from you on this. I have an idea on who ownes this car and if you will email me TuckerMch@aol.com.
As far as we know of all of the Tucker's built by Tucker Corporation are accounted for, however we often hear from someone who thinks they have located a Tucker. They email us then we never hear from them again.
Tucker paint numbers

Postby plancor 792 » Wed Nov 10, 2004 5:50 am

I'm sure this information has been posted more than once on the internet but for those who don't have it I will pass it on:
Original Factory Paint Numbers are:
100 Black, 200 Walz Blue, 300 Dark Green, 400 Beige,
500 Silver Gray and 600 Maroon.
The Tin Goose or the original prototype carried no serial number and was Maroon (600).
Serial number followed by Paint Number as follows.

1001-600; 1002-200; 1003-600; 1004-500; 1005-200;
1006-300; 1007-300; 1008-400; 1009-500; 1010-200;
1011-400; 1012-600; 1013-500; 1014-200; 1015-300;
1016-100; 1017-300; 1018-400; 1019-500; 1020-600;
1021-100; 1022-500; 1023-600; 1024-200; 1025-300;
1026-600; 1027-200; 1028-400; 1029-500; 1030-100;
1031-200; 1032-500; 1033-600; 1034-200; 1035-600;
1036-600; 1037-200; 1038-300; 1039-500; 1040-400;
1041-100; 1042-600; 1043-200; 1044-300; 1045-500;
1046-600; 1047-200; 1048-300; 1049-200; 1050-600.
Most of the cars have been repaint in other than their original colors and at least one car was completed from parts and fibre glass. This car is called no 1051 and it used some parts from 1027, the Tucker that rolled at Indy and was later parted out. Paint number is stamped into the data plate mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment. That data plate also includes the body number, trim number and at the very bottom of the plate in much smaller numbers, the serial number.
Hello,
You said that you know someone with a Tucker in Wisconsin?
That car, which was purchased in 1956 might have come from Minnesota originally as there was a Tucker dealer in St. Paul that had only one car, the car was sold an it was in Little Falls as far as anyone knows but, this car that you speak of might be the Tucker from Minnesota. Other stories about a black Tucker that I have heard from older gentlemen were one that was driven in a parade when the car was new and during the fifties, one was seen racing a Corvette off of Lake Street in Minneapolis.

Edited by: Paul at: 12/24/04 3:52 am

As far as I know, yes. Go to the club website and click on "See a Tucker" and scroll down a little bit. All current locations of Tucker cars have been posted.
