paint formula for Waltz Blue #200

Postby Tucker34 » Wed May 27, 2009 1:11 pm

I am the curator for Tucker #34. We are getting ready to paint it and I would like to know where to get the original formula for the paint.

It is Waltz Blue #200. We have been putting this off as long as we could to keep it in original condition but it is just too faded out to show now. It will be featured in a major Museum exhibit in 2010 which I will inform the club about when it is announced.

Thanks,

If you still have a small section with the original paint it is very easy to copy. Most bodyshops now have a special camara that you place over the painted section o the car and it works great. When you connect it to the computer it give you the paint formula and it is almost 100% close to original. I believe it is a program called something like "Colornet" but I don't remember since I have not used that since a long time ago that I needed a color matched. I used it at a local collage where they have one and whenever I wanted a paint formula all I had to do was take a part of a car and put to camara over it.

Cecil: Back in 1948 Ditzler had a paint chart for Tucker for their "Sympho-Chromatic" finishes. I have a poor quality color copy of it. I can see the Waltz Blue color but unfortunately I cannot make out the Ditzler code number for it. The Ditzler web site claims they have available 100 years of paint chips- see

You can check on a number of marques through this site but I could not find Tucker. Perhaps with Tucker being such a well-known and respected marque they'd look it up and provide it to you.
