Photos of Tucker "Plant"

Hi,

Does anyone have any photographs taken inside the Tucker assembly plant or offices? Specifically, I'm looking for any non public relations pictures that might show the Japanese man who worked there. It is my husband's dad, "Jimmy." Since he died when my husband was a young boy, we are looking for any pictures of him during his time at Tucker.

Many thanks,
Gretchen Sasakura

I will see what I can find on him since I have many photos. I see his name was Jimmy Sakuyama and he helped in the drafting department. Will see what I can find for you.

Jimmy Sakuyyoma was one of the first employees in Chicago with Tucker, beginning on 10/3/46. Frank Tucker once told me that he had been a ward of Preston Tucker's during World War II. He probably was earlier on the payroll of Ypsilanti Machine & Tool before the Tucker Corporation payroll as Frank had memories of him sleeping outside there in a trailer. What he lacked in formal education he made up for it otherwise as he was known as a jack-of-all trades guy, extremely loyal to Preston Tucker.

Some years back in Tucker Topics, there was a piece written by a gentleman who'd grown up living next to Jimmy's house. I no longer have the issue, but I remember him saying that Jimmy doted over some rose bushes, and I think that the author still had a bush that was started from one of Jimmy's.
