Big 3 finally got their Karma

Postby firebirdcrazy » Mon May 04, 2009 1:14 pm

I am new to this forum though I have visited the site many times to look at the Tucker Pictures. I love the story on Preston Tucker and his revolutionary car of tomorrow in which the technology is still being used today. I saw a real Tucker in NJ years ago when I was a teenager still. I am very grateful for the people who have kept up the Tuckers history and what it stands for. I see it only fitting that the big 3 are in deep trouble and serves them right for burying the Tucker Corp. and others like him out of greed and fear of competition. I only wish that Preston Tucker was alive and eventually getting his justice from those crooked politicians, and lobbyist, and everyone else who had a hand in taking him down. So how does the big 3 feel now that there about to be taken apart like they did the Tucker Corp....

Karma is one thing but I think it is a bit unfair to say the Big 3 has this coming to them because of what they did to Tucker. I am a big a fan of the Tucker car and corporation as the next guy. It is also a shame that the Tucker flame was snuffed out before it really got going. Who knows what the company could have evolved into if it were still around. I don't think in anyway the Big 3 deserve to fail though because of this. You have to remember too that any of the men involved in Tuckers demise have been gone from the auto industry for many many years now. Its a whole new crop of people running the show.

I myself live in Detroit Michigan, home of the Big 3 and am witnessing first hand all the negative impacts this is causing. The ones hurt the most are the hard workers of the Big 3. People are losing their jobs, homes, and retirement because of the Big 3 failures. I don't think its fair to say the Big 3 or anyone deserves this. We should all be respectful to those whose lives are drastically being altered by this. No one wants to see the Big 3 disappear under any circumstances.

I think a more fitting topic would be the "what ifs" Tucker had survived to this day? Would we be in this predicament if it was the Big 4? Or even so had Tucker absorbed one or more of the Big 3? I think the Big 3 would have been much better off with Tucker around. With the Tucker company's ingenuity and forward thinking it would have created more competition in Detroit. It would have forced the other US auto makers to think faster and develop new ideas much quicker. All 3 company's would have grown faster and stronger thus making it harder for foreign auto makers to be competitive here. Quality, Safety and aerodynamics would have been put into play at a much earlier stage. Who knows the level of cars we would be driving today had that been the case.

Obviously its all speculation and a matter of opinion, but its fun to imagine what could have been. It could have been much better, it could have been much worse too for all we know. Things still could have ended up the same. All I know is I sure hope the US automakers can turn things around for the sake of all the hard working families and this country.
