Tucker in San Antonio Years Ago

Postby redglare » Wed Apr 01, 2009 12:01 pm

Back in 1984, San Antonio had a Museum of Transportation. The museum was part of the larger San Antonio Museum Association (SAMA) which was made up of several museums in town. The Museum of Transportation owned a green Tucker. Sometime in the late 80s or early 90s the museum association was broken up. The Transporation Museum was closed and its car collection sold. Does anyone happen to know which Tucker was displayed there? Were all of the cars sold separately or as a collection? Thanks, Redglare

That was Tucker Serial Number 1005 and at that time it was owned by a club member in Port Lavaca, Texas and on loan to the Museum Of Transportation in San Antonio, Texas. I was instrumental in getting this Tucker for the Tallahassee Automobile Museum in Tallahassee, Florida. Today it is in that museum.

Wow, number 1005! Thanks for the update. Until I came across this website I didn't think I would ever know the whereabouts of the car. The current curator at the Witte Museum is too young to remember the Museum of Transportation. Thanks again.

Is this the one you're referring to? I visited that museum in San Antonio back then and took these shots. Sorry about the quality.

BTW, that's my ex-wife and my son in the stroller in front of the Tucker. That little baby is now a 23 year old petty officer in the Navy serving over in Djibouti, Africa. I guess that would make the date of the picture sometime in 1986.
