The Memphis Tucker - 1042 what about 1010?

Postby Ace Barker » Wed Mar 04, 2009 8:59 pm

With all of the interesting articles on the convertible and folks finding engines, radios, parts and the like are there any parts like an engine around from 1042? Could some of the items on the convertible be some of those? I am assuming everything associated with 1042 is probably long gone and nothing at all is left from that car.

What is going on with 1010?

I have really enjoyed the articles and photos you ll have provided.

Thanks!

That's #1043 before it's restoration. It wore that pink and white paint job for many years, since the late '50s or early '60s. It was restored a few years ago in it's correct Waltz Blue color. #1042 was a Maroon car, and parts still exist in private collections.

Thanks Martyn,

That's great to hear that parts from of 1042 still exist. Do you know how much of the car (parts) exist?

You're welcome Ace,

If I remember correctly the Tuckermatic transmission (or parts of it) and possibly some suspension parts are out there somewhere, but not too much else. It was a pretty rough car by the time it "disappeared".

I found this. It's a replica but still nice. I guess a piece of me is thinking the body and frame of 1042 is in a warehouse in Memphis.

Well the link indicated it was.

1948 Tucker Data Plate : Tucker # 42 ( 1042 ). ( Replica )

It is very nice though. It looks brand new.

Interesting. Maybe there is more left of 1042 than is known.

Tuckermatic transmission (or parts of it)
possibly some suspension parts
I was going on what the link had the tag was a replica.

Maybe a rusty body and frame is in some Memphis warehouse. ;-)

On 1010, the photo is in a semi trailer. Is anything known about a restoration on this one?

Wished I knew where it is now. I would love to put it together with shoe strings and bubble gum. I would shure make her look like the day it was made but like always I will keep on day dreaming. Then 1010 I don't understand why nothing is being done to it when it would be so easy to restore with all the parts out there after having the main thing which is the frame and body with an engine. I would have had her on the streets again by now even making my own parts if I had to. Well I will go buck to welding my Tucker project for now.
