Junkyard Tucker? Background on TV Show

Postby davehans » Mon Feb 23, 2009 1:06 pm

Hi..first time here,just sharing a little info.

Just for background info:I have been in the auto industry for 25 years and love old cars of all sorts. I'm not a brand specific car junky, but appreciate them all for their differences and qualities.

I am also cursed/blessed with an eidetic memory.

Anyways,I was recently flipping through the channels and a show that had I had never seen before flashed on.
It was a junkyard scene, and for maybe 1/2 a second there was a primered up and somewhat rough looking car in the background.

My first impression was "Tucker".

I know it is unlikely a Tucker would be in a Cali junkyard (lots of palm trees) but there are lots of hoarders out there who would rather see a valuable car rot then sell it to be preserved.

Anyone??

Wasn't a Stude..had that small rear side window, and was an air intake on the rear fender.
Like I said I highly doubt it's a Tucker but wondering WTH it is.

Was thinking maybe it was a Tatra but spent 15 minutes looking at Tatra pix and couldn't pick it out.

I'll see if i can find that video somewhere online

hi, I know there are still some Tucker fiberglass parts at a junkjard kind of place the Paramount studios have here in California along with scraped cars they have used in movies. Maybe the shots were filmed there if the TV show was made by them. What TV show was it? When did you see it? You can contact the TV chanell and they can sell you a copy if you know the day it came out.

Hi Tucker:

You're probably right,a used movie prop.

It was this show called Dexter,am not a TV person and was just flipping through the channels.
A car was passing by in front of it and only saw for a fraction of a second..recognized it as a big rear engine car.

I checked with some friends who've seen the series, and they said that the episodes they could remember with a junkyard in them were Love, American Style and Return to Sender. Having just watched them, I didn't see the car in any of the shots. The cars in the junkyard seemed to be no older than late 1960s models. There was one shot of what appeared to be a black 70s-era Camaro, but I didn't see anything resembling a Tucker at all. The show's apparently shot (or at least those two episodes were) in Miami. One of the movie cars was down around that area as I recall, and was green, if I'm remembering correctly. I didn't see any green cars in the shots. Most of them were a dark color, white, or red.

The junkyard used in that tv show is close to me.........it is an Asian junkyard - doubt any Tucker parts/replicas are there.

Here's a screen from an episode on IMCDB, which I think may be the car you're referring to: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_150916-Nash-600-1949.html

If so, it's an old bathtub Nash.
